A Studio-Quality Powerhouse

The Eventide H90 Harmonizer is a formidable addition to any musician's arsenal. As longtime users of Eventide products, we were eager to see how this new offering would stack up against its predecessors.

Right out of the box, the H90's build quality impressed us. Its military-grade construction exudes durability, and the crisp screen interface is a joy to use. However, we were slightly disappointed by the cheap-feeling power supply, which seems out of place for such a premium product.

Navigating the H90's features was initially daunting. The sheer number of routing options and algorithms is staggering, offering unparalleled flexibility. We particularly appreciated the ability to run two algorithms simultaneously, a significant upgrade from the H9. The MIDI integration is comprehensive and straightforward, making it a breeze to incorporate into complex setups. However, we found ourselves wishing for a global EQ and audio over USB capability, which would have made live adjustments and recording more convenient.

Sound-wise, the H90 is a mixed bag. The effects are undeniably high-quality and professional-grade, especially the pitch effects that Eventide is known for. We were consistently inspired by the rich palette of sounds at our disposal, often finding ourselves breaking through creative blocks. However, some users might find the presets overall sound a bit sterile and digital. Many presets, while impressive, felt over-the-top and required tweaking to fit into a typical song context.

For us, the H90 represents excellent value for money, despite its high price tag. The breadth of effects and routing possibilities justify the investment, especially considering it's more cost-effective than purchasing two H9s. However, we can see how some musicians might prefer the immediacy and analog warmth of separate, specialized pedals.

The Eventide H90 Harmonizer will appeal to tech-savvy musicians and producers who crave ultimate flexibility and pristine digital effects. It's particularly well-suited for studio use, where its vast array of sounds can be fully explored. However, guitarists looking for plug-and-play simplicity or those who prefer an analog sound might find the H90's complexity and digital character less appealing. Despite its quirks, the H90 remains a powerful tool for sonic exploration and creativity.

Eventide H90 Harmonizer review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Eventide H90 Harmonizer is a powerhouse of sonic creativity, offering improved DSP, upgraded algorithms, and flexible routing options that can transform any performance. While the pedal excels in delivering a staggering array of effects and hands-on control, its small screen can make navigation cumbersome, and switching algorithm slots isn't as seamless as one might hope. Nonetheless, its rich feature set and intuitive design make it a worthy investment for serious musicians, promising days of inspiration and exploration.

positive

Eventide H90 Harmonizer

soundonsound.com

Eventide’s H90 Harmonizer is a powerhouse of effects, offering a stunning array of sounds and unparalleled pitch-shifting technology. Its dual processing engines allow for intricate and smooth effects, making it a versatile tool for guitarists and synth enthusiasts alike. The software integration is user-friendly, enhancing the editing experience. However, its premium price tag may deter some, and the absence of the mobile app at launch is a notable downside. Still, if you’re in the market for a high-quality multi-effects pedal that pushes creative boundaries, the H90 is a formidable contender that’s worth the investment.

positive

Eventide H90 Harmonizer review | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

The Eventide H90 Harmonizer is a powerhouse of effects, boasting an impressive range of 62 algorithms and flexible routing options that can elevate any pedalboard. Its dual-algorithm functionality allows for creative sound combinations, making it a dream for adventurous musicians. However, the steep price and complexity may deter some players, requiring a steep learning curve to fully exploit its capabilities. If you're willing to invest the time and money, the H90 can deliver studio-quality sounds that are hard to surpass, but be prepared to navigate its intricate features.

positive

Eventide: H90 Harmonizer Multi-Effects Pedal | Tape Op Magazine | Longform candid interviews with music producers and audio engineers covering mixing, mastering, recording and music production.

tapeop.com

The Eventide H90 Harmonizer is a powerhouse of versatility and quality, boasting an impressive array of effects that live up to Eventide's legendary reputation. However, it demands a commitment to learning its extensive features and navigating its detailed user manual, which may deter those seeking a straightforward plug-and-play experience. While many effects are stellar, not every program will resonate with all users—some may find a few, like the jarring Robocat, less useful. Overall, if you're ready to invest time in mastering its controls, the H90 can elevate your sound in both studio and live settings.
