The Fender “High-Powered” Twin | Vintage Guitar® magazine

vintageguitar.com

The Fender 59' High Power Tweed Twin is a powerhouse amp that embodies the classic Fender sound with its impressive 80 watts of output. While it excels in delivering clean, robust tones ideal for larger venues, it may be overkill for smaller gigs, where its weight and volume can become cumbersome. Additionally, the Jensen P12N speakers struggle at higher volumes, making it less versatile for those seeking a more manageable stage presence. Ultimately, this amp is a remarkable piece of gear, but it might not suit every player's needs, especially in more intimate settings.

It Will Get Loud: Joe Bonamassa Discusses Fender's New '59 Twin-Amp | Guitar World

guitarworld.com

Joe Bonamassa lauds the Fender '59 Twin-Amp JB Edition as a near-perfect reissue of a classic, emphasizing its authenticity and powerful sound. With features like the vintage-style capacitors and exclusive Celestion speakers, this amp delivers iconic tones reminiscent of legendary artists. However, its sheer volume may not suit every player, making it “not for everybody.” While it excels in dynamic range and tonal versatility, its loudness could be a dealbreaker for those seeking more intimate settings. Overall, it’s a powerful tribute to Fender’s heritage, but potential buyers should consider their volume needs.

Gywn Ashton said to Australian Musician (article published 21 March 2014) "Again, I have a supply of amps – mainly vintage tweeds, depending on the gig size. I like small amps and the louder I can play, the more I bring in. I start off with one or two Fender Pro Juniors, add a 1957 Fender Deluxe, a 1956 Fender Twin Amp 40w or either one, or BOTH, of my high-power Tweed Twins from 1957 and 1959. I have an AC30, too."
