Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe.

Use cases and applications

  • The guitar's lighter weight is favored by users previously owning heavier models like the Les Paul, providing comfort for extended play sessions.

    Source
  • The guitar's tonal range makes it versatile for jazz, blues, and rock, with a good humbucker sound in the neck position.

    Source

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The guitar has a deeper neck pocket that only accommodates a 22-fret neck without an overhang.

    Source
  • The P90 pickups are praised for their distinctive sound, offering a tonal alternative not found in other guitar collections.

    Source
  • Some owners experience stock electronic issues, with pots and components cutting out, prompting upgrades to Emerson wiring harness.

Comparisons

    Source
  • The Thinline's lightweight design is likened to Rickenbacker models 330 and 360, known for chambered bodies.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • One owner replaced a brass nut with a bone nut, significantly improving the guitar's playability.

    Source
  • A graph tech nut upgrade significantly improves tuning accuracy, described as a "day and night" difference.

    Source
  • Treble-bleed mod with a pF capacitor and resistor pair is recommended to reduce high-end rolloff during volume adjustments.

    Source

Build quality

  • The neck has a tacky poly finish that feels almost plastic-like, which some find unpleasant.

    Source
  • The body material may vary by production year; some owners report pine while others note mahogany, impacting tonal brightness.

    Source
  • Owners mention the need to replace stock plastic knobs due to aesthetic preferences, opting for more durable metal ones.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Acquiring this model in mint condition at half the price of an entry-level Fender MIM is noted as a significant value advantage.

Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe Review: I've been playing about a year and a half, started off... | Fender | Electric Guitars | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe impresses with its versatility and quality at a budget-friendly price. Ideal for alternative rock, it offers rich, bright tones with minimal noise, making it a standout in its price range. While it lacks a tremolo and requires a separate case purchase, its reliable build and durable finish ensure it can handle gigs without a hitch. The P90 pickups provide unexpected crunch, and the guitar's setup is exceptional right out of the box. Despite being made in China, this model defies expectations and delivers fantastic value, appealing to players seeking quality without breaking the bank.

China!!?? Nice guitar!

The quality of this instrument is excellent. You'll have to go to the custom shop to find better. I picked it up from a friend who had it hanging on the wall. He said he traded for it. I pulled it off the wall and started playing it. In 5 min I knew it was going home with me.
I have changed the switch and the pots with Emerson stuff; this woke it up even more. The pickups have that nice p90 tone that you look for in these. I have considered replacing them, but then I play these and stick with them. They fall in the range of a classic p90 from the 60's (yes I have played some on Gibsons). The finish is an eye grabber. The neck is just not too big and not too small. The only noise I get is hum from the pickups, but that's classic p90. Great buy!

This thing has gotten me through so much. Currently it’s being worked on, but I will never let go of it. It’s great for progressive rock.

The Dessert

I have this one with the transparent black finish and it's amazing. For it's price point, it is a deal breaker and is a no frills Fender guitar and don't be fooled by it's made in China origin, the hardware is solid and the pickups sound good also it is light and is great on stage. I bought this guitar because I want to really have a 72' thinline tele but I want it with p90 pickups and considering the price point and its role to my gears. I use this as a backup/alternate guitar for my Pop Punk band alongside with my main guitar ESP LTD EC1000FM ASB.

Juntei todas as minhas economias e fiz a compra. A guitarra é fenomenal e os caps são perfeitos para deixar aquele som mais escuro e emocionar.
