Excellent as Gibson once knew how to do ...

Exceptional!

The lutherie of Les Paul of this era is really excellent, with a fat neck (50's shape) providing a vintage style. Very comfortable handle, its sounds very warm and round with the original pickups. One of the best LP I have ever had in my hands.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Personally, I recently replaced the original pickups with Seymour Duncan APH-2S BK Slash Alnico II Pro and the traditional tuners had been replaced 20 years ago by modern tuners.
