Description
The electric guitar of a new generation.
When DragonForce guitarist Herman Li wanted a guitar that could handle his otherworldly technique and musicality, both he and Ibanez knew it would take time to get everything just right. It took three years. But they did get it right. The Ibanez E-Gen8 is played by Li exactly as it is, live on stage, in the studio, right off-the-shelf without any modifications. The 3-piece maple EGEN bolt-on neck has the high-speed Ibanez Wizard II profile that gives Herman the playability he needs. A 24-fret rosewood fretboard is special oval inlays.
The Edge III bridge/tremolo design provides even more stability and strength under the most demanding playing conditions. Now in gold hardware for Herman's EGEN. The new Edge III is similar in construction and feel to the original Edge locking tremolo; however, it also features lower profile fine-tuners inspired by the Lo-PRO Edge and massive new-design saddles.
The EGEN8 pickup force is ready and able for a wide range of sound and attack: V7 (H) neck, S1 (S) mid, and V8 (H) bridge. The Vintage 7 neck humbucker with ceramic magnet is tight but bright, very dynamic for chording and rhythm. The SINGLE 1 in the middle position is traditional-sounding yet high output single coil with Alnico-5 pole pieces for even string output. Designed to work with humbuckers in the split position. The Vintage 8 bridge humbucker with alnico magnet is warm yet articulate lead pickup with enhanced overtones. Good harmonics without excessive brightness.
The special scalloped hand grip on the top horn of the EGEN8, modeled from Herman's actual right hand!
Case sold separately.

Beautiful Guitar but........
Got this awhile back, when I first saw it I was very impressed with the finish and the overall look of the guitar. I got it second hand so I took it home an replaced the springs and strings, After a little set up it tuned up and sounded beautiful. Then I locked down the nut and tuned with the fine tuners, here is where my opinion of this guitar dropped dramatically. I pushed the whammy arm and did a long dive, came back up and hit a E power chord, and it was completely out of tune! I chalked it up to strings stretching at first but still a week later it was the same. The culprit is the much hated Ibanez Edge III tremolo. So i blocked it up, and now it stays in tune very nicely. Overall a good guitar, but if you happen onto one block it up or switch out the trem for a Edge zero.

Great guitar overall
I'll preface this by saying that I probably shouldn't have bought a signature in the first place, but damn this thing is nice. It's only like 5 lbs and the neck is just crazy smooth. It did come with a bit of fret buzz in certain places and its a bit pricey (and it's a sig), but if you can find a guitar with similar specs for the price just damn buy it.
The best it can ever get
Just like the Egen18 this is crafted with exotic materials and craftsmanship is of the highest calibre. With 10 pickup combinations this guitar is amazingly versatile with a tone worthy of virtuosos worldwide.
