Owner Insights

    Source

Value and pricing

  • KZ ES4 appeals to budget audiophiles due to its affordability, similar to how Venture Electronics markets the $5 Monks.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Recommended equalizer apps have at least 10 bands of graphic EQ with adjustable Q factor for precise frequency adjustments on iPhones.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Negative pre-amp gain is crucial to prevent clipping when boosting frequencies, ensuring clear sound without distortion.

    Source

Critic Reviews

KZ ES4 | Audiofool Reviews

audiofool.reviews

The KZ ES4 offers a lively listening experience with impressive bass and improved mids, making it a solid choice for casual listeners. However, it’s not without flaws; some users may find the fit a bit large, and the sound can be overly colored for those seeking neutrality. While the build quality and packaging meet expectations, the cable's short strain reliefs detract from an otherwise decent upgrade. For fans of bass-heavy sound signatures, the ES4 could be a winner, but it may leave those looking for detail and balance wanting more.

KZ ES4 review: balanced, but not enough - Soundphile Review

soundphilereview.com

The KZ ES4 offers a commendable blend of comfort and affordability, making it a solid choice for budget-conscious audiophiles. Its balanced sound signature is a step up from KZ's previous models, yet it still suffers from noticeable issues like a peaky upper midrange that can fatigue listeners with certain tracks. While the design is sleek and the removable cable is a plus, the overall build quality feels standard. Sound-wise, it excels with classic rock but lacks the detail and separation found in higher-end options. Essentially, the ES4 is a decent entry point, but it doesn't quite fulfill its potential—making it a worthwhile listen for some, but a miss for others seeking true fidelity.

KZ ES4 review on thephonograph.net

thephonograph.net

The KZ ES4 delivers an exhilarating listening experience with its punchy bass, vibrant mids, and bright highs, all at an impressively affordable price. It boasts excellent comfort and design, making it a pleasure to wear for extended sessions. However, some tracks may reveal harsh peaks, and the accessories offered are minimal. Overall, the ES4 is a fantastic choice for bass enthusiasts and KZ fans alike, but be prepared to tweak the EQ to achieve your ideal sound.
