Description
Step into the realm of vintage sound with the Laney AOR Pro Tube Lead 100 Series II Head, a cherished relic that continues to capture the hearts of guitarists seeking robust, tube-driven tones. Originally crafted in the 1980s, this amplifier head is known for its dynamic tonal versatility, thanks to its 100-watt power and dual-channel design. Guitarists can effortlessly switch between pristine clean tones and the gritty, saturated overdrive that defined an era of rock music.
The AOR (Advanced Overdrive Response) circuitry is a standout feature, offering an extra gain stage that pushes your sound into high-gain territory without sacrificing clarity. This makes it a perfect match for those chasing that classic British crunch or heavier modern rock sounds. With an intuitive layout, it allows players to dial in their ideal tone quickly, whether on stage or in the studio.
Designed with durability in mind, the Laney AOR Pro Tube Lead 100 Series II Head is built to withstand the rigors of frequent gigging while maintaining its powerful performance. The range of input and output options ensures compatibility with various setups, providing flexibility for musicians who demand adaptability from their gear.

Features and functionality

The amp offers a very Marshall-like sound with additional gain, making it versatile for different styles when combined with an overdrive pedal like the 808.
Source -
The Laney AOR 100 Series II requires a single on/off switch with a mono jack for channel switching, not necessarily a specific footswitch model.
Source -
The amp uses a normally open circuit for the footswitch, activating current flow when pressed, aligning with most standard footswitch designs.
Source -
Silent switches are uncommon for basic channel switching, but the Laney FS-1 mini is a recommended choice for this amp.

Use cases and applications
-
Doom and sludge metal players achieve a Monolord-like tone with specific EQ and pull settings, especially when using an oversized Mesa Boogie 412 cab.
Source
Setup and maintenance
-
The push/pull bass pot is crucial for some, but its removal can lead to tighter bass for those seeking less looseness in sound.

Great Power, Great Tone!
This amp is loud and crunchy, the clean channel is nice and clean unless you crank the gain. Has speaker outputs for 1 X 8, 2 x 16, 100 watts output.

I’ve been playing the same set up for a number of years now and I haven’t found anything I like more. It’s an early Laney AOR Pro-Tube 100-watt Lead amp, and I put it through whichever cabs are working! But that’s usually a Laney 4×12 and a Marshall 4×12. [The Laney is] the best amp I have ever owned: incredibly loud and very reliable on the road. Of course, I have managed to completely fry it a few times, because I play it at max volume all of the time!
