It's my favourite OD pedal. It's subtlety and dynamic response is awe-inspiring.

The Brown Source is love in a pedal.

When I first talked to Vlad over at Henley-on-Thames (Lovetone) in England back in '98, he told me a few clients were returning the Brown Source because they thought it didn't work. How awesome is that?

I immediately bought one because if people didn't understand the pedal, I had to have it! And it is hands down my favourite OD.

What does it do?

It embiggins my playing (to use a 90's expression). It is subtle, no question but the level and power of contained sonic spirituality that this OD circuit infuses into each note of my raw emotional expression is not subtle at all. It's just like falling in love, while fireworks explode overhead and a Cream-era Clapton throws a brick of pure white y*yo your way with a knowing wink.

That fact is, you don't own this pedal - you partner with it.

ThorpyFX The Bunker
newer

Designed in collaboration with Lovetone co-founder Dan Coggins, The Bunker is described as "a MKII version of the Brown source drive pedal" in the official product description: https://thorpyfx.com/collections/thorpyfx-pedals/products/the-bunker-drive-pedal-1

The BUNKER is a MKII version of the Brown source drive pedal. It is smaller, louder and more tonally flexible. The tonal flexibility is provided through a texture control that allows you to have whichever type of drive sound you want from original Brown Source style drive through to thicker and more harmonically rich drive. The tonestack bypass is on a footswitch for two switchable sounds as well as a three way toggle switch for further tonal sculpting.
