Review: M-Audio Code 49 MIDI Controller : Ask.Audio

ask.audio

The M-Audio Code 49 impresses with its sturdy build and responsive keys, perfect for keyboardists seeking a traditional feel. Its expressive drum pads and robust mapping capabilities add to its appeal. However, the lack of Ableton and Reason remote scripts is a notable oversight, and the rainbow LED design may not suit all tastes. While the faders feel fragile, the controller's overall lightweight durability is commendable. Users may find frustration in software support, but hardware enthusiasts might still appreciate its design and functionality.

Code 49 by M-Audio Review

worshipleader.com

The M-Audio Code 49 is a versatile MIDI controller that stands out for its extensive customization options and affordability. Its optimized design provides musicians with exceptional control over their sound, making it suitable for both studio and live performances. While its semi-weighted keys may not satisfy those seeking a traditional hammer action feel, the overall construction is solid. The brightly lit controls can be overwhelming, but they can be adjusted. A downside is the absence of a sustain pedal. Despite minor drawbacks, the Code 49 offers an impressive array of features at a reasonable price, making it a top choice for musicians looking to enhance their setup.

The M-Audio Code 49 is a solid addition to the controller market, boasting a revised keyboard with improved playability and expressiveness. Its velocity-sensitive pads and a multitude of control options, including an X-Y pad and onboard presets, make it versatile. I may never need another midi controller again.

8 slider, 8 knobs, 16 pads, 49 keys, XY pad, presets can be customized through a gui, or through the controller itself, supports sustain and volume controls, USB powered, optional AC 9V power, Mackie support, can be used as a Human Input Device, semi-weighted keys, aftertouch, pads and keys are velocity sensitive, comes with some nice plugins, and Ableton Live Lite. Any key will do anything you could possibly need. Best investment ever.

kingaurorus

so many buttons and knobs, fantastic for any kind of daw program

Absolutely ladden with knobs and buttons, this thing feels like a workstation. If you want a higher end midi controller with dozens of features so you rarely have to lay a finger on the mouse, this is for you.
