I find the 2 octave size ideal for basslines, playing out beats and for work out chord progressions. The knobs are useful when assigned in Ableton Live. I really like the default controller settings in Reason 5, very functional for sure.
I first got this as a gift for recovering from surgery. Haven't used another MIDI controller with the same significance since, this piece of equipment got me into creating music and has followed me through starting out on Garageband all the way to Logic Pro X. I love this little thing.
