M-Audio Oxygen 25 MKIV Review - Don't Buy It Until You Read This!

makebeats101.com

The M-Audio Oxygen 25 MKIV is a solid choice for home studios, boasting full-sized, semi-weighted keys, transport controls, and velocity-sensitive pads. However, its larger size and weight hinder portability, and it lacks standout features to justify its higher price. New users might struggle with customization, but this can be remedied by consulting the manual. While it competes well with similar models, the Oxygen 25 is best for those prioritizing brand reputation and desk space over compactness. Overall, it's a reliable, albeit pricier, option for budding producers seeking a sturdy MIDI controller.

Not my best buy, but it works...

The keyboard and the pads are all fine, and the size and feel of both keys and pads are good, but the integration with my DAW of choice (Reason 10) is not up to date. Don't know if I should blame M-Audio or Propellerheads, but the mapping of the knobs and pads is not working great at all. Guess the DirectLink protocol mappings are not up to date or something. Pads are all over the place in Kong and in other instruments and effects, some knobs work while others don't. Just a pain to have to re-map everything manually. But the quality of the unit feels nice and firm.

Compact and Functional

Although it is somewhat complex to map (depending on your DAW), it can be a very good tool for small spaces. Its number of programmable buttons and its quality/price ratio make it a fun, useful, and affordable tool.

The bedroom producer

An awesome christmas present. All of its assignable buttons makes it a truly faithful controller when working in Ableton and trying to make many midi tracks. I am still getting used to it and am yet to use the beat pads but it has proven useful for many projects.

earthquake_drums

Good keyboard

Key feel isnt the best but has a solid amount of DAW control and the drum pads are good

yash_kadam

Nice, compact yet fully operational

The keys are great for the tag of 'semi-weighted'. The pads, although a bit stiff, have a nice feel. Knobs and other stuff is good too. The best part is the software bundle....loads of software!!!!
