Description

Experience the fusion of vintage charm and modern versatility with the Marshall Vintage Modern 2466, a 100-watt all-valve amplifier head designed for serious guitarists. Crafted to deliver an expressive and organic performance, this amp head features two footswitchable dynamic ranges. The Low range captures the authentic tone and gain of a classic vintage Marshall, while the High range introduces an extra preamp tube for those iconic hard rock tones of the seventies.

The 2466's intuitive design includes two frequency-selective preamp volumes, Body and Detail, providing unparalleled tonal flexibility to match your guitar and playing style. Embrace the fat, smooth tone powered by four KT66 output tubes, reminiscent of Marshall's earliest amplifiers. The mid-boost switch on the front panel allows you to further enhance your sound, while the traditional Marshall tone control circuit lets you fine-tune your sonic output.

Manage your volume effortlessly across any venue with the master volume control, and enjoy the onboard "plate" reverb, which can be adjusted and footswitchable for seamless onstage transitions. For those who love to experiment with their sound, the series effects loop offers selectable loop levels and a bypass option, enabling easy integration of outboard gear.

Features and functionality

    Source

User experience

  • Some owners find the amp challenging to dial in but rewarding, especially for blues guitarists seeking a saturated tone at higher volumes.

    Source
  • Despite perceptions, the amp is not excessively loud compared to other Marshall models like the Plexi or JCM 800, making it more manageable in various settings.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Using a Weber mini mass attenuator with a footswitch add-on resolves the lack of solo boost options effectively, enhancing the amp's live performance capabilities.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Owners recommend checking the bias on the tubes, which is straightforward with the right instructions, to maintain optimal performance.

Great sounding amp.

The sound of this amp is special. It is not for metal and it is not quite for blues but it is to create new music with a lot of colors to let your dreams become true. I usually modify my amps but this one I didn't much. Just basic. All my amps I wire in the way to get read of parasitic HF oscillations. CT of high voltage supply I wire to chasy and than I take minus from the other point of chasy which is used as a choke to suppress high parasitic frequencies. The cathodes of output tubes I wire strait to chasy to get softer and more playable sound. I recommend this amp as one in collection.
