Imogen Heap’s ‘magic gloves’ make anyone a musician | CNN Business

cnn.com

The MiMu Gloves, championed by Imogen Heap, aim to revolutionize music creation with wearable tech that transforms gestures into sound. Highlighted for its innovative attempt to merge tech and music, the gloves offer musicians a novel way to interact with their compositions. However, the gloves are still in development, lacking an off-the-shelf version, and their Kickstarter campaign was unsuccessful. While it holds potential to change music performances, its practicality and accessibility remain in question, making the sentiment towards the gloves cautiously optimistic.

MiMu Gloves by Imogen Heap

Meant to post this awhile ago, but these gloves are absolutely amazing! I saw Ariana use these shortly, while on her Honeymoon Avenue tour. Basically, she used one hand's glove (her left?) to freeze the sound with a clenched fist and have it repeat while the right hand's glove controlled the harmony of choice. I'm guessing she pre-set the chord(s) for "Why Try" (the song she used these in) but I'm not 100% sure. It was SO cool to see Ariana go from being a huge longtime fan of Imogen's and making home videos with a different vocoder- I have yet to find the brand/type- to being contacted by Imogen herself, and given these gloves! These cost around the thousands I believe ($1,260) but they are life GOALS. Haha
