Critic Reviews

PreSonus Studio One Review | PCMag

pcmag.com

PreSonus Studio One redefines the digital audio workstation experience with its intuitive workflow and powerful composition tools. While it excels in speed and usability, allowing for seamless recording and mixing, the software suffers from an outdated selection of instruments and a cluttered interface that can overwhelm users. Despite these drawbacks, its impressive features like integrated pitch correction and support for Dolby Atmos make it a strong contender in the DAW market. Overall, it’s a smart choice for musicians seeking a capable alternative to Pro Tools, though some may be wary of its shifting subscription model.

My favourite DAW

I literally cannot use anything else. The drag and drop workflow is smooth, the built-in synths/samples are great and it's not too expensive either.

My DAW choice

Presonus is innovating with the Studio one software. I use this to mix down live recordings from the rm32AI.

100% suitable for Progressive & Psytrance

Almost the same functions like Cubase, but solved a lot of things easier, simpler and more directly. The DAW which works for me the best, because working with Audiofiles after sounddesign never was so easy.

Best way to go

By far one of the best out there. Take Logic, Protools, Garageband, ext, and stick them together. You get Studio One 3. Everything you love, and a nice professional look (well it is professional)!

Simplistic software with potential to rival Pro Tools?

Interesting, albeit simplistic, new piece of software I'm putting through its paces. Possibly taking over for Pro Tools if the audio's better!

Wanna hear your thoughts on it. Interesting to see where and how it fits in with the other big DAWs.

Our DAW of choice

Our DAW of choice. We were using Cubase for over 15 years until this came along. It is truly a world class daw and it sounds increadable in 64bit.

I’m Using Studio One Professional for the entire process of creating music. Starting with composing, sound design, going over to recording, editing, mixing and also mastering, I simply do everything in Studio One. I do have three workspaces so I can work from everywhere. 2 alternative and related items for PreSonus Studio One, curated by the Equipboard community.

Steinberg Cubase

$209.00 - $329.99

high-end alternative

Studio One was first written by Wolfgang Kundrus (an early developer for Cubase & the primary author/developer of Nuendo) & Matthias Juwan (the guy who wrote the VST3 spec) as part of KristalLabs Software Ltd (the "K" logo for Studio One is a tribute to them). PreSonus later bought them out & started releasing their product as Studio One.

Thus, Studio One & Cubase have a lot in common (e.g. shortcuts, UI/UX elements, etc)
