  • Adds a "swooshing" hiss to the sound

  • Lacks a wet/dry control for blending effects

  • Can be too bulky for some pedalboards

  • Signal noise is present, even without playing

  • Tone alteration and noisiness even at zero depth and feedback

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about TC Electronic Blood Moon Phaser.

Features and functionality

  • The feedback and depth knobs on the Blood Moon Phaser allow for a unique frequency sweep effect, adding versatility to the pedal's sound.

    Source
  • It's noted that the pedal employs a latching switch mechanism, potentially involving a relay for true bypass functionality, which may complicate DIY modifications.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Blood Moon is described as having a "uni-vibe squish" while offering more musicality than the MXR phasers, despite being noisier at high gain settings.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users find the speed knob's range limited, with most usable settings packed into a small area, but it does achieve a high-speed, almost ring-mod effect.

    Source
  • The pedal is noted for its warm, full tone that works well both clean and with overdrive, although it may not satisfy those seeking extensive control and complexity.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Considered a great value at $50, it's praised for outperforming MXR's phasers in its price range, though it's not comparable to higher-end options like the Moog Phaser.

    Source
  • Purchased for 65 AUD, users find the Blood Moon Phaser an excellent budget choice for building a basic pedalboard.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Owners aiming to replicate David Gilmour and Tame Impala tones find the Blood Moon Phaser effective for these styles.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Users transitioning from digital setups like Logic Pro to analog pedalboards find the Blood Moon Phaser a suitable entry-level choice.

    Source
  • The internal trim pot adjustment does not resolve the volume boost issue; it adjusts the bias for the depth instead.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Some users are exploring adding a 100k log pot as a volume control to address the significant volume increase when the pedal is engaged.

    Source
  • A transistor-based solution has been suggested online to mitigate the volume jump, though a volume pot mod is preferred by some for simplicity.

clean versatile phaser with internal trimpot as bonus

Good phaser, you can dial in quite a different range of tones, but I struggle to make it work for me, I am to stupid for this thing. I always wondered why some famous phasers just have one control, now I know. Usual smorgasbord clarity and quality. I always check the smorgasbord pedals for trim pots, this has one, but it is a bit hard to reach in their slightly weird casing design.

jafromusic

Solid pedal, if unspectacular.

Like a lot of the "big box" TC Electronic pedals they're good value for money if you're just after some effects for your first foray into grown-up pedalboards like I was when I got mine, nothing particularly bad to report other than my Big Muff seems to react weirdly to it, causing a big spike in level whenever it's used with it. But I don't tend to use them together much anyway, but still. Solid pedal, good price.

greatbigether

It's colored.

It's a phaser. I wish the rate knob could go even slower, the depth is sufficient, and feedback is useful. The problem is the pedal is colored and noisy. It's obvious even at zero depth and feedback that your tone has changed pretty substantially. I don't even use it anymore.

D

good pedal

you get a little more control over the sound than a phase 90 but it feels more synthetic and droning than a phase 90 of 75
