Critic Reviews

AKG K72 review - SoundGuys

soundguys.com

The AKG K72 headphones promise affordability but fall short in sound quality and build. While they offer a lightweight design and a comfortable headband, the sound is inconsistent and lacks the neutral profile expected from studio headphones. Stiff padding and mediocre isolation further diminish their appeal. Though priced attractively, these headphones don't live up to AKG's reputation, making them a tough recommendation for even budget-conscious buyers.

AKG K72 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

AKG K72 headphones deliver excellent value for their price, offering a pro-level performance that challenges more expensive models. Their lightweight and comfortable design, combined with an expansive sound, makes them ideal for home or studio use. However, the slightly colored midrange and a long cable prone to tangling might not suit everyone. Overall, the K72s are a fantastic budget option for those seeking reliable studio headphones.

AKG K72 review | What Hi-Fi?

whathifi.com

The AKG K72 headphones are a fantastic budget-friendly choice for home use, offering excellent value and comfort with a long, durable cable suitable for studio settings. Their expansive sound and adequate bass make them enjoyable for both music and movies. However, the midrange can sound a bit colored and boxy, affecting the clarity of vocals. While lacking a removable cable and offering limited isolation, these headphones stand out for their price, providing a taste of high-end sound without breaking the bank. Overall, they’re a great buy for those seeking quality over style.

Pretty Decent

Overall a solid choice! Very clear, very light, very comfortable. While I wouldn’t mix a song on it, they are great for plugging into my Helix for practice, just ensure that there’s no high cut on the global EQ. I thought they were rubbish for months until I realised the global eq was cutting all highs, even from the AUX in!

Not so flat frequency response. Better constructed than AKG K77 (previous model)

Not so flat frequency response, these headphones have low frequencies a bit boosted. Good for bassplayers that need to record with all the band simultaneously. Better constructed than previous model (AKG K77) and more comfortable too (larger Earpads).

Probably the best headphones I've ever had

Great overall sound with crisp highs and really low lows. Easily my fave headphones.

Versatile

I love these headphones, for both producing, and DJing. They're good for broke DJs and Music Producers like me. Because they provide quality, without breaking the bank.
