Beautiful, Comfortable, and Affordable

I bought these headphones at the recommendation of a Sam Ash employee who referred to them as the absolute best headphones for mixing. He said everyone in the store used them, and as soon as I tried them out, I could hear why. The bass is extremely clean and accurate and the highs are the clearest of any headphones I've ever heard. Not only do they have gorgeous sound quality, they also might be the most comfortable headphones out there. The earpads are large and cushy and the headband rests snugly atop the head to make for unrivaled comfort. With world-class quality and supreme comfort, the fact that these headphones are available for only $150 make them a fantastic bargain and a no-brainer for anyone doing any kind of mixing or even just leisurely listening.

Best sounding headphones I have ever bought and last more than any pair I have had! Bought them about a year ago and if you didn’t know could say I bought them yesterday and went through a lot within that year being used hours each day for guitar and online school, so good built stuff! Plus like I said great sound quality too, very good for hearing subtle things in music!

Very comfortable, excellent isolation, sturdy, excellent sound

Although choosing headphones is pretty much a personal choice, I'd be surprised to find a better option for the same price as the ATH-M50x. I tried a few other pairs and found that this one was more faithful for my taste. They are not best for precise mastering (an open-back pair + reference monitors would be better for this anyway), but it's a great all-round pair for producing, mixing, recording and monitoring for long hours without fatigue.

Nice but...

the headphones are very good and sound and in terms of quality.. but the pads need to be changed on the very first day of purchase. they hurt me after a few hours.

Best headphones in their price range

Love the 3 detachable cables. I don't have to mess with a 3 meter cable when i'm just listening to music, but can use it when i need it while recording. They have excellent bass response, deep, clear, present, but not boomy nor muddy. The highs are clear and soft. They sound natural and not fatiguing. They are comfortable, but not for very long periods. Their imaging is really clear and instruments sound well separated, though not very wide or spacious, more like left, right and center. Also, they have an incredible isolation.

they work alright

These cans do not sound particularly good, but they do not sound bad. The isolation is more than adequate for most applications. I original bought my 1st pair to DJ after blowing out a set of Stantons with bad isolation. My buddy recommended them for DJ sets so I went for it and they are ideal for that purpose because they are VERY comfortable to wear for hours on end. For studio work there are better options. I also wore out my 1st pair after a few years ut I ahd a backup pair. If those die on me I will not buy these again as I no longer DJ and would prefer isolation cans that sound better and isolate more effectively.

Very good sounding headphones.

The frequency response on these headphones are great, and the removable and replaceable cables and pads make these headphones a must-have, as most headphones you'd get at this price would wear out its cable and pads within a year. I've had mine for 1 year and half now and they have been my longest lasting pair of headphones to date.

There is only one con to these headphones: in order to maintain its inward curvature to fit snuggly around your head, it uses small plastic stoppers under the bending points to keep the individual speaker encasements from bending backwards while you wear them. These plastic stoppers can break fairly easily, and they are irreplaceable.

But overall, build quality and sound quality is top-notch. Highly recommend them.

Best-buy for under $150

Probably the best sounding headphones for under $150 and it can be used for diverse purposes too. Good for DJing, music/audio production and general listening. They're really comfortable, I can wear them for hours in a single sitting and not feel any fatigue unlike some of my other headphones. I tried a bunch of other brands and models like Bose, JBL, Pioneer, AKG, Beats, Sennheiser for under $200, and while there were a few close contenders like the Sony h.ear on MDR-100AAP, most headphones in the price range didn't even come close to the M50x's sound quality. They're really well built and durable, the earpieces can move 180 degrees and the headband is really flexible too, ideal for live performance and portability. I've seen a lot of successful producers, musicians and DJs use them in the studio while recording, mixing, composing, for reference, and live performances. They are probably the new industry standard after the Sony MDR 7056.

If you're trying to get the absolute best buy for under $150, these are it.

Well known for a reason

A headphone that has stood up to 6 years of hard abuse and still outputs nicely at a good price. I cant say the leather holds up long term, as I have a third pair of (this time not leather) earcups on it and the headband has disintegrated, now being replaced with another one, the headphones themselves are great.

After experiencing sound through these, you can never go back to average headphones.

To make this as short and simple as possible, listening to music through these headphones is like a whole other world. You can hear every little detail of a song or recording through these, and it makes going back to Apple Earpods a real bummer. Haha. After wearing them for a few hours, it can definitely get a little uncomfortable, but it's tolerable and the sound quality is worth it.
