Versatile unit with flexibility that was ahead of its time.

I have used this unit for over 20 years now, and I love it. I'm a semi-pro musician who has recorded a couple of CDs, and on the first one I recorded, this got used on the guitar, the keys, and the bass! It is an interesting unit that was way ahead of its time, a multi-effects unit with loops for three pedals that switched on and off in the patches. The unit itself had no built-in distortion, so most people would put in 3 different distortion pedals for different tones. I play ethereal music, so I put in a phaser, a flanger, and a digital dimension chorus pedal. The unit has chorus/flange/pitch shift built in, it has 2 delays, a short and a long, reverb, an EQ, a noise gate, input for an expression pedal, midi, a tuner... 5 banks of 5 patches. You can get some really interesting tones out of this. The pitch shift tracks very well, and even has a detune mode that creates a haunting sort of sound. I just love everything it can do. It, of course, has stereo outputs. People complain that they are noisy, but it is a multi-effects processor that is from the 90s, I don't expect silence if I am using a bunch of effects. These are all made in Japan, so you know they are made to last, minus the clips on the lid, those are the thing that seems to go first. All in all, a solid investment, especially if you are into ethereal/shoegaze/dream pop/goth etc.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

I love the chroma detune on the modulation section. Add it to some bouncing delay and a big reverb, and a chorus pedal in one of the loops, and it will just go...
