Overpriced evil
Do the pedals sound good? Yes. Does it have unique pedals inside that other platforms don’t? Also yes. Is it worth buying? Hell no!
Just 16 models is nothing compared to the competition, and having to pay for other models in the future is a rip off. Don’t encourage this business model by buying one.

In this video, Leon Todd discusses and demonstrates the Plugout FX PX-1 pedal from Boss. He says at 35:36:
It does sound really good. I think it sounds fantastic. The Slow Gear, the OC-2, I really like that they've got those effects in there. I think once they've expanded the ecosystem, and maybe if they offer a few different options in there for people to just buy it outright, then that will make people a lot happier and they'll be a lot more likely to go and buy this because it's still the classic Boss pedal form factor. it is competing with a bunch of other things at a similar price point like the Line 6 HX One for example, that offers so many effects on there and yeah, it's going to be a tough sell for some people.
I know all the boss fanatics are going to go out and buy one of these. I certainly want one just for the Slow Gear and the OC-2 on there, but I can also understand the criticism from so many users out there because I feel like stuff like this there is a precedent now where we shouldn't settle for less when it comes to effect processors. you know, look at companies like Fractal and Line 6 and the way they roll out consistent valuable updates on there.
In this video, Brett Kingman reviews the Boss PX-1 Plugout FX pedal. He says:
If you want a Boss effect that can be 16 Boss effects, and they’re all highly accurate in terms of A/B’ing them with the originals, the couple of originals I’ve got here, especially the SD-1. It’s like spot on, you cannot tell the difference. I can’t anyway. So it’s fun, it’s value for money, it’s stereo, it’s easy to use, it comes with a great app, and it’s the Plugout FX PX-1. That might be everything you need. In fact, if you had three of them, you could have sixteen times three effects on your board ready to go at any one time.

In this Instagram post, Jackson Brooksby says:
Every classic Boss pedal you’ve dreamed of owning, in one pedal 🤯 my pedal of the year so far, maybe the decade? Honoured to have been asked to make a video on it 📹
In this demo and review, Sascha Rebbe gives his thoughts on the Boss PX-1. He says:
I have to say I'm really impressed by how good the sounds are because when it comes to drive sounds and modeling, I'm usually a bit skeptical, but I have to say all the drive effects were super convincing. They felt all very natural and most importantly, they responded really well to picking dynamics and also to rolling back the guitar's volume knob. So, this was truly convincing, I have to say. And all the other effects sounded great as well. And it is truly amazing that we now have access to all those vintage Boss pedals which you usually could only get on the used market for crazy prices. And you can even put several of them into one pedal and switch between them.
So, I have to say I really like the concept of the pedal. You get 16 effects included when you purchase it, which is great. And from what I know, Boss is even planning to release more effects in the future, which you then can purchase for a small price without any subscription, as far as I know. Again, I really like the idea of the PX1. The sound quality is fantastic. It is easy to use and I think it perfectly combines classic tones with modern technology.
