Review of The CEntrance MicPort Pro Audio Interface

homebrewaudio.com

The CEntrance MicPort Pro is a portable powerhouse that delivers impressive audio quality, easily rivaling more expensive interfaces. Its zero-latency monitoring and user-friendly setup make it a standout for on-the-go recording. However, the device's reliance on USB power for phantom power might limit its compatibility with some devices, and the gain can get a bit too hot for certain microphones. Despite minor noise issues at low levels, the overall performance is commendable, especially for voice recording. If you're seeking mobility without sacrificing sound quality, this compact interface is a solid choice, though some might prefer a more robust, self-powered alternative.

tapeop.com

The CEntrance MicPort Pro offers a compact and portable solution for musicians seeking quality sound with a simple plug-and-play setup. Its Class A preamp delivers clean audio, and the integration of zero-latency monitoring is a significant plus. However, the design has notable flaws, such as a non-locking XLR connection and awkward placement of jacks that can lead to accidental disconnections. While it excels in versatility and ease of use, the MicPort Pro's physical design could hinder performance during live recording sessions. Overall, it’s a mixed bag: a great choice for those needing portability and decent sound, but be prepared for some usability quirks.

Ty Ford Audio and Video: Centrance MicPort Pro - 24/96 Audio On A Stick

tyfordaudiovideo.blogspot.com

CEntrance's MicPort Pro is a compact USB audio converter that offers 24/96 audio quality, catering to users who want simple mic connectivity without complex setups. Its lightweight design and phantom power capabilities are major pluses, making it versatile for various microphones. However, users may encounter challenges with audio settings on newer Macs, which could lead to glitches in recording. While it excels in delivering solid audio quality, especially for Skype calls, it falls short when compared to professional preamps, particularly with high-end condensers. Overall, it's a handy tool for casual use but may not satisfy those seeking studio-level performance.

Mentioned in this April 10, 2013 article from Baker's official website.

I plug my XLR mic (XLR refers to the connector on a professional quality mic) into an inexpensive digital audio interface (Mic Port Pro- a “D/A converter” that is about the size and shape of a magic marker). This plugs directly into my Mac’s USB port. It has separate volume controls on the converter for the mic level and earphone level. Pretty awesome. This nifty device allows me to plug any professional quality mic into my computer. $150.
