Excellent Quality acoustic instrument microphone
Although specifically designed for a violin, I don't actually play violin. I use this successfully with my banjo, ukulele, dulcimer and mandolin. Works well live and in studio. Have even jerry rigged it to use with acoustic guitar when experimenting with some ideas.

"We use DPA's d:facto™ Vocal Microphone on vocals and d:vote™ 4099 Instrument Microphones on snare bottoms and toms," says Front of House engineer Phil Jones from Output Audio.
The attached article discusses Gwen Stefani's tour gear with the monitor engineer for her “Just a Girl” residency at Planet Hollywood’s Zappos Theater in Las Vegas, Eddie Caipo. He's decided to use another DPA microphone after much trial and error for Gwen and himself. At the time of the interview, Eddie said he would be adding the d:vote CORE 4099 microphone during her tour, and presumably has by this point.
