Reviews

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Fender Vibrosonic Reverb.

Comparisons

  • The Vibrosonic Reverb shares a similar tone stack with the Deluxe Reverb, but lacks a mid pot, which is hardwired internally on the DR.

    Source
  • The Vibrosonic's steel guitar channel closely matches the DR's tone stack with identical cap values, slope resistor, and pots, aside from the mid pot difference.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Deluxe Reverb, with a clean speaker, performs well in small venues but may need additional amplification in larger rooms without mic support.

    Source

User experience

  • Deluxe Reverb stays clean up to 6 on the volume dial and becomes progressively dirtier without increasing volume beyond 7.

    Source
  • Owners report that the Vibrosonic Reverb has low overall noise levels, which is appreciated given its vintage status.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • A Weber California 12 ceramic speaker maintains clean tones in the Deluxe Reverb until volume 6, and offers a gradual increase in dirtiness beyond that point.

    Source
  • The Eminence Redcoat Big Ben 15" speaker is noted for handling fuzzes and overdrives smoothly, complementing the Vibrosonic's clean profile.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Replacing electrolytic capacitors is crucial for vintage amps like the 1977 Vibrosonic; they typically last 10-20 years and affect noise levels when worn.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The 1977 Vibrosonic Reverb, part of the ultralinear era, provides a very clean, glassy tone ideal for math rock and experimental genres.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • In the UK, the Vibrosonic Reverb is less common and may be priced slightly higher than a similar-era Twin Reverb due to rarity.

Perfect amp

Why this amp isn’t more recognised from the silverface line up is so weird. It’s literally a 1x15 twin reverb, great amp definitely would be more bassy and pack a punch opposite to the 2x12 twin reverb. This was a popular amp with lap steel players. Thing is having that 15 inch speaker with the low end these amps can produce should of been more a thing with rhodes piano players!

Can do a full spectrum of eq, from being really bright, sweet spot, to really low end
