In this picture Isaak can be seen playing his main guitar when it gets electric: a white ES-345 Stereo.

According to Kaukonen's blog post, he started using ES-345s between 1965 and 1966.

IN 1965 or ’66, I bought a Red ES-345 Stereo at Sherman and Clay in San Francisco for about $400. I bought it on time… it seemed like a lot of money back then. That guitar became the guitar I developed my sound in the JA on. I owned a number of ES-345’s and ES-355’s back in that day, but that first red one was always the one. I gave it to my friend Maj when I was flush with cash and buying a lot of guitars. It was stolen from him in London and has been gone for over forty years.

He mentioned the use of ES-345s in 2012 Guitar World interview.

When I play electric in Hot Tuna, I use two guitars: a Chet Atkins SST with acoustic strings for finger picking and a Gibson Les Paul Standard for rock and roll. Back in the day, the 345 and then the 335 defined my electric sound, but I stumbled onto this Les Paul and I just fell in love with it. It sounds great and it’s nice and light. I’m getting old, what can I tell you?

Kaukonen's gear website mentions 2016 Custom Shop ES-345, which is a replica of his red 1964 Gibson ES-345. The guitar was built by Gibson Memphis.

In an Instagram video, Ángel Parra is shown using a Gibson ES-345 Electric Guitar, as evidenced by a screenshot available on Equipboard.

"QRD – What’s your main guitar & what are the features that make it such?

Fred – 1958 Gibson 345, stereo switch removed, original pickups, mountable/removable pickup over the nut end of the neck."

Rush says, “Well, there’s two guitars I really like – my Gibson semi-hollows and Fender Strats. I can go with the Gibson 345 or 355, but any of the semi-hollows do it for me. Actually, with either heavy strings or sometimes lighter ones like a 10-46 set. But, like with anything, there’s always something else out there. And for me, well, the Strats just can do some things and feel a bit differently than the Gibson, and sometimes I’ll trade-off.

This instagram shows his ES-345 and a new Gretsch (though I have never seen him play the Gretsch live!). The 345 is notable by its stereo pickup selector options and the split pearliod inlays.

One of Tony Hicks most used guitars in the early days of The Hollies was this cherry red Gibson ES-345 with the pickup covers removed. It can be seen in colour here.

Tony actually have modified this Gibson model into a different color. In the mid 60s, around 1966, he painted the guitar in a Jet Black finish, still keeping the Bigsby Vibrato system. It is seen in numerous performances, especially in the early 70s and late 60s, some may see it in a concert with Mikael Rikfors, and some may see it in several TV performances in Sorry Suzanne.

Lowell George mentions owning a Gibson ES-345 in a 1976 interview with Guitar Player Magazine.

I also have a Gibson ES-345 Custom that’s sort of okay. I had some work done on it. I asked the repair guy to put a Telecaster pickup on it because sometimes for studio work, and for the group, I may need a real bright sound.

Snowy: For about 30 years, my Les Paul was my only guitar, and I never wanted another one. But since I’ve been doing other things, like with Roger Waters, I’ve needed a few guitars. I bought a Strat, which is similar to the black Stratocaster David Gilmour has—I figured I would use that for a couple of songs to get the appropriate sound. And on the last tour for Dark Side of the Moon [2006–2008], I bought a ’57 Les Paul reissue, which felt exactly the same as my old one. I put a tremolo arm on it, because I needed to do a few tremolo bits. I also got an ES-345 from Gibson, which is a really great semi-hollowbody. And I’ve got a Martin acoustic, a D-28 that came straight from the factory—they found a nice one for me. So I have bought some guitars I only use when I’m playing with other people. When I’m doing my thing, I just use my Les Paul." Álvaro López acquired a 1959 Gibson ES-345, which he debuted during the "Ven Aquí" tour in Mexico in 2023. He continued to use this guitar throughout the Chile tour in 2024, including performances at the Viña del Mar Festival and the Estadio Nacional, as evidenced by the provided image.

Note: This is outright incorrect. James DOES NOT use a Gibson ES-345.

James Petralli uses a Walnut colored 1972 Gibson ES-335, equipped with Stereo and Varitone.

This was verified by myself when speaking to him after a WD show at the Le Creme Music Festival in Pittsburgh, PA on Sat. Sep 7, 2019.

I believe his ES-335 was misidentified as a ES-345 due to the Varitone control, despite having the wrong inlays.
