JoeMeek Floor Q

soundonsound.com

The Joemeek FloorQ Optical Compressor Pedal impresses with its unique tonal character and robust design. It provides clean sustain and a musical response, making it ideal for guitarists seeking classic tones. While some controls are subtle, the pedal's ability to add a sense of loudness and power, especially for bass, is commendable. The lack of metering might deter some, but its affordability and versatile power options make it a worthy contender in the compressor pedal market.

This Joe Meek FloorQ Optical Compressor is part of the private collection of J Mascis.

Joemeek is famous for their optical compression, a tool often found in pro studios. With the floorQ compressor pedal, you get the same stellar optical compression Joemeek's rack gear is renowned for, but in a footpedal-sized format. It's not just a shadow of the original circuit, it is the same circuit. The floorQ also makes a great front end/level matcher for any guitar amp (especially one with tubes!). Studio quality compression right there on your pedal board!

Compression plays an integral role in J's square wave sound. This pedal is a great addition to recreating the sounds that J would use live. This pedal is in great condition, ready to hook up to your board and improve the sonic quality of your tone. No power supply is included, but you can hook this up to your favorite DC9V power supply and apply this excellent compression unit to your signal chain.
