Description
Product Description:
The JHS Whitey Tighty is an innovative compressor pedal that helps musicians shape their sound without getting in the way. Inspired by classic FET compressors, it provides studio-quality compression that can be dialed up or down to suit your taste. From subtle smoothing of your tone to a pleasing squash, it provides versatility that's perfect for country, blues, pop, and rock.
In a compact 1"x3" body, the Whitey Tighty is as simple as it gets. It features three straightforward controls: Volume, Compression, and Blend. The Volume control ensures that you can set your volume at unity gain or slightly boosted to compensate for any perceived loss from the compression. The Compression knob gives you control over the amount of compression, enabling you to fine-tune your tone. The Blend knob allows you to mix in the right amount of clean tone with your compressed signal, retaining some of the natural feel of your clean tone while enhancing it with studio-quality compression.
Key Features:
- FET-based circuit for studio-quality compression.
- Volume, Compression, and Blend controls for precise sound shaping.
- Compact size (1"x3") saves pedalboard space.
- Allows parallel operation of dry and compressed signal.
- Delivers subtle smoothing to pleasing squash.
- True bypass preserves your tone when the pedal is off.
- Ruggedly built and handwired for durability.
- Made in USA.

Joshua Heath Scott: You ever use a compressor?
Rob Scallon: Yeah. Yeah, I’ve used a compressor. I have the Whitey Tighty, actually. I use it on— I like using a compressor…
Scott: You said it right!
Scallon: Yeah!
Scott: Everyone says Tighty Whitey and it drives me insane. It’s Whitey Tighty.
Scallon: Yeah. I used it on bass, slap bass mostly. Like, compressor on slap bass is a bass hack that I only learned like a year ago and I can’t believe I spent so much time playing slap bass and never put a compressor on it.
Addison Sauvan: Is that the trick? I don’t play slap bass.
Scallon: Dude, yes.
Sauvan: Okay.
Scallon: Yeah, because like…
Sauvan: I have a compressor on it right now.
Scallon: …if you’re, um… Yeah, ‘cause like, if you’re hitting’ your thumb, that’s super, super loud and if you’re getting a dead note with your left hand, it’s really quiet.
Sauvan: I can’t play this live, I don’t know what I’m doing.
Scallon: And it’s really hard to have those be the same volume but you have a compressor and you don’t need to worry about it.

Similar size and build quality. Wampler probably has the edge a little bit.
