Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive

similar sound

"The Korg OVD-1's distortion power isn't all that great. It ends at a whopping overdrive, comparable to the 12 o'clock gain setting on the Boss SD-1 reference pedal. In the harmony central user reviews someone writes that the OVD-1 sounds just like his TS-808/9. I can not confirm that. This pedal is based more on the Boss SD-1. The sound is very similar. The OVD-1 sounds a bit milder and has a little less mids. The SD-1 can have more brilliance if needed. This does not mean that the Korg pedal has little high end. I would rather describe it as the tone control working in a slightly lower range. Tone full on for the OVD-1 means approximately Tone at 2 o'clock on the SD-1. From this point of view, the Boss SD-1 can do almost everything that the Korg OVD-1 can do and has more reserves in the area of distortion and treble."
