The Ultimate Line 6 POD HD500x Review (2021) | AxeDr.com

axedr.com

The Line 6 POD HD500X impresses as an all-in-one digital effects and amp modeler, offering a vast array of HD amp models and effects in a compact package. It's a boon for musicians seeking versatility and portability, with customizable footswitches and a built-in looper. However, it demands a steep learning curve, requiring significant time to master its full potential. While it won't replace the warmth of a tube amp, and suffers from phasing issues with dual amps, its affordability and functionality make it a valuable tool for both beginners and experienced players willing to invest time in perfecting their sound.

Line 6 POD HD500X review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Line 6 POD HD500X is a versatile multi-effects unit that's ideal for both stage and studio use. With a robust build and vast array of tones, it excels as an all-in-one solution for musicians seeking quality sound. The USB connectivity and 48-second looper add to its practical features, making it a competent tool for recording and practice. While the initial cost might be higher compared to assembling individual pedals, the HD500X's extensive effects library and programmability offer significant value. Its intuitive interface and excellent modeling make it a strong contender in the multi-FX market, although buyers must be content with Line 6's effects.

A Good Choice for tone-studying

You needs time for this pedal, which means you need to understand a lot of settings by checking online or refer to the real model, but another way it's a good tone-builder with good compatibility.

Great piece of equipement.

I use this to play on stage, never let me down. Quick, simple, powerful and intuitive.

Best floor based multi effects full stop.

great in sloop, great in the front of an amp, awesome in line 6 link of a DT range amp, and an amazing stand alone unit......what more can i say.

POD HD500X

For the money, no amp modeller I have tried comes close to the POD HD500X.

jimmarchi1

This thing looks really useful, particularly the effects loop for analog pedals. They modeled some winning amps for headphone jamming, but the ability to slap a drive and/or fuzz in the loop and use some of the on-board effects like the wahs, modulation and delays is rather tempting, especially with the stereo out to feed 2 actual amps... you could really ignore the amp models and use this on stage to squeeze a broader palette of sounds out of your real-life rig courtesy of some personalized 'scene' presets. I just get squirrely about turning my signal into ones and zeros like that. The amps sound okay, the fuzzes and distortions less okay, but Line 6's HD models of echoplexes and phasers etc are really outstanding now. How are you using this piece?

D

I'm currently just using it as a MIDI foot controller for my Axe-Fx 2 :)

"Line 6 is at the cutting edge of creative guitar technology. They empower guitarists with tools to make sounds that the masters of the psychedelic era could only dream of! Now, we can not only emulate the sounds of the past, but we can create contemporary and futuristic sounds. I have a James Tyler Variax guitar, POD 500 and consistently use the M9 stompbox modeler which gives me access to literally hundreds of unique pedals and effects, and allows me to have extraordinary control. I also make loops using its built-in world class looper. Its exciting to think of what Line 6 will build next!"

My signal runs from my custom PRS into a Kemper Profiler head and a PRS Stealth 2x12 cabinet. As you can see, right now it’s on the JCM 800 Drive preset. I’m using a Line 6 Pod HD500X as a MIDI controller for the Kemper. I have a bank setup for each song. Take “Nightmare.” I’ve got my basic heavy sound, one that’s slightly louder, and one with a wah on it, which I manipulate via the HD500X’s footpedal.
