Critic Reviews

M-Audio M-Track Solo & Duo

soundonsound.com

Affordable and surprisingly capable, the M-Audio M-Track Duo delivers solid performance for beginner home studios. While its lightweight plastic design raises some concerns about durability, it more than compensates with decent sound quality and low-latency ASIO drivers. The interface is easy to use and features a useful software bundle, making it an excellent entry point for budding producers. However, it lacks advanced features like MIDI support and multiple outputs, which may limit its appeal to more seasoned users. Overall, for the price, this interface is a steal, but those seeking professional-grade gear might need to look elsewhere.

M-Audio M-Track Solo and Duo review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

M-Audio's M-Track Duo delivers solid performance at an unbeatable price, boasting a sturdy build and decent preamps that offer up to 54dB of clean gain. Its portability and ease of use make it an attractive choice for beginners. However, it lacks MIDI connectivity and USB indicators, which can be frustrating for users wanting more feedback. Despite these drawbacks, the Duo’s overall value is hard to beat for those starting their audio journey, making it a worthwhile investment for budget-conscious musicians.

M-Audio M-Track Solo and Duo Review

musictech.com

M-Audio's M-Track Duo offers decent sound quality and essential features at a budget price, making it an attractive choice for beginner musicians. However, its limitations are hard to ignore: a lack of MIDI I/O, basic monitoring controls, and an underwhelming software bundle detract from its overall appeal. While it effectively competes in the micro-budget market, those needing higher sample rates or advanced functionalities might find themselves looking elsewhere. A solid option for entry-level recording, but seasoned users may be left wanting more.

The M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface is a solid, budget-friendly choice for musicians and podcasters alike. It boasts pristine 48 kHz audio quality, versatile dual inputs, and zero latency monitoring, making it a versatile tool for any recording setup. The included MPC Beats Software adds value, enhancing its appeal for budding producers. However, its limitations in preamp gain and subpar customer support are notable drawbacks. Ok-ish beginner thing

Its noisy, limited and very fragile interface, that is almost usable for basic recording and listening. But it is also very frustrating and difficult to work with it because it has very uncomfortable and difficult to look after shape. Its build quality is not as good as it looks, and overall i’d rather recommend you Behringer UM2 as a starter interface.

In an interview titled "AN INTERVIEW WITH PUZZLE," Fletcher Shears mentions at the 6:20 mark that he uses an M-Audio device, which he connects to GarageBand for his solo project, Puzzle. While he refers to it as an "M-Audio Two Track Recorder," it's likely he means the M-Audio M-Track Duo USB Audio Interface, as it's a close match to his description. This setup is specifically for his work with Puzzle, not his band, The Garden.
