Description

The Maxon AD-9 Pro Analog Delay is a testament to the pursuit of perfect tone. It is a reimagining of the classic analog delay, designed to deliver the best sounding, most reliable performance ever. This pedal captures the essence of vintage analog delay units that have been the dream of musicians for ages. A combination of a Panasonic MN3205 BBD IC and a Signetics NE570 compander, it provides a warm and crystal-clear delay time, adjustable repeats, and zero clock noise.

From the Rock-A-Billy slapback echo to the erratic, runaway delays, the AD-9 Analog Delay is capable of creating a diverse range of time-delay effects. Thanks to the Panasonic MN3205, this pedal can produce 10-300 milliseconds of variable delay time. Its repeat control offers additional spatial effects by adjusting the repeats from one to infinity, emulating various room sizes.

The Delay Level control on this stompbox adjusts the mix between dry and effected signals. This allows the delayed signal to either subtly add ambience or take the front stage for a greater impact. The AD-9 also features stereo outputs, offering a variety of signal routing options for use with multiple amplifier setups or mixer channels.

Key Features:

  • Panasonic MN3205 BBD IC and Signetics NE570 compander for warm and clear delay time
  • 10-300 milliseconds of variable delay time
  • Repeat control for adjusting the repeats from one to infinity
  • Delay Level control for adjusting the mix between dry and effected signals
  • Stereo outputs for flexible signal routing options
  • True bypass switching using a 4PDT mechanical switch, ensuring zero clock noise.

Critic Reviews

Maxon AD-9 Pro Analog Delay Review | Squid Guitar Inc.

wordpress.com

The Maxon AD-9 Pro Analog Delay shines with its warm, organic delay and true-bypass switching, boasting the charm of analogue sound with its own Bucket Brigade chips. It's a breeze to use, making it ideal for those favoring subtle, always-on delay. However, its 450ms limit falls short against rivals like the MXR Carbon Copy, which offers 600ms at a lower cost. The lack of tap tempo and more intuitive features might be a deal-breaker for experimental delay users. Despite this, its dual outputs and potential for second-hand bargains make it a worthy contender in the analogue delay arena.
