Critic Reviews

MOTU Microbook II

hifizine.com

The MOTU MicroBook II is a versatile and compact audio interface that packs a punch for its price. Praised for its digitally-controlled analog gain and multi-channel DAC capabilities, it excels in acoustic measurements and as a standalone active crossover. However, its learning curve and 3 dB gain increments instead of the advertised 1 dB can be frustrating. Despite these minor issues, it offers a robust feature set, including onboard diagnostics and EQ, making it a standout option for audio enthusiasts who enjoy tinkering. If you're seeking a plug-and-play device, consider alternatives like the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.

MOTU MicroBook II

soundonsound.com

The MOTU MicroBook II impresses with its excellent audio quality, compact design, and robust build. Its standout feature is the CueMix FX software, which offers great functionality for mixing and controlling its DSP. While it shines in many areas, the single mic input may be limiting for some users, and full potential requires the accompanying software. Ideal for solo artists seeking a portable interface for recording and live setups, the

Did it's job, until it didn't

I got this thing with the intention of just plugging my Rode Podmic into my computer. However, I use a Windows PC, and there is very limited support for it. It took me an hour to get it working but had no problems with it I guess. That is until I got a Shure SM7dB. It absolutely refused to work with this device, after 2 hours of troubleshooting and finding no answers on the internet. I ended up selling this and my Rode Podmic and got the Scarlett Solo 4th Gen instead. I believe it's better to save up for a higher-end sound card.

Micro magic.

I have owned this item for may, may years. It has been my main interface for my small studio rig, it has been on tour with me. It has a small size, just larger then the average phone these days and easily fitting in any gig bag or ruck sack. Simple logical controls make it an ease to work with and the input and output options paired with the included software make it perfect for most situations. It is however showing it’s age, some modern systems and daws are not compatible anymore.
