Persing is the founder of Spectrasonics, a company specializing in developing World Class software 'virtual instruments' since 1994. He has produced dozens of the sampling industry's top selling titles and gone on to create the award-winning Omnisphere, Keyscape, Stylus RMX, Trilian, Atmosphere and Trilogy software virtual instruments. Eric's ground-breaking instruments and sound libraries are the best selling and most widely used in the world. Spectrasonics products are in constant use on thousands of major film, television, music, game and multimedia productions.

In addition to being the Creative Director of Spectrasonics, Eric was a longtime consultant and the Chief Sound Designer for Roland Corporation Japan from 1984-2005, creating the key sounds for many popular Roland synthesizers, samplers, CD-ROMs, expansion boards, processors and groove devices - from the vintage Jupiter and JX series, to the legendary D-50, D-70, JD-800/990, R8, S-series samplers, JV-880/1080/2080, the Sound Canvas, JP-8000/8080, MC-505/909, The V-Drums, XV-5080, Fantom series, the V-Synth and many more.

In this 2016 interview, Soichi mentions the gear from his first studio. He still uses most of them to this day.

Synths include: ARP Sequencer model 1611, Roland JD800, Emulator II, Yamaha DX7-II, Oberheim OBX-a, ARP Odyssey, OSCar, and Korg VC10 vocoder as well as a Fender Rhodes Mark I and Leslie 760 solid state.

In the screenshot is seen Paul Shaffer playing synthesizer Roland JD-800 during the first Late Show With David Letterman show in 1993. Above white logo/text on the left side, an angled system and patch controls can be seen which matches with JD-800.

In a post on the Mod Wiggler forum, Taylor Deupree, who collaborated with Tetsu Inoue on the album Active / Freeze, states that Inoue used a Roland JD-800 on several albums:

yes, a JD800 was a huge part of those records as well as an Akai S3200 (or maybe 1000? i forgot, pretty sure 3200 tho).. thought i remember some sort of matrix 6 or matrix 1000, but not sur....his mixer was a Soundcraft Ghost (with a better/modified power supply) and everything recorded to a panasonic SV3700 DAT machine. struggling to remember anything else, though... MS20 perhaps... 101 or 106.. 606 i'm almost positive....

Not that Isham has entirely forsaken his 'synthetic' past — far from it, in fact. Even his beloved analogue collection — now expanded to incorporate an Oberheim Xpander, a Roland MKS80 with MPG80 programmer, and a rare Moog Model 12, one of those 'big modular Moogs' he once admired from afar — regularly gets a look in: "I just did an entire film score that used the 2600, MIDI'd via an old Roland MPU101 MIDI‑CV converter" says Isham, with a hint of bravado. Isham's studio also contains an extensive selection of more modern synths. Of his Korg Trinity Plus, Z1, Prophecy, Wavestation A/D and ubiquitous M1, Roland JD800, and newly acquired, knob‑laden Access Virus, the latter is currently proving most agreeable with the composer.

In the YouTube video titled "Ace Of Base - Beautiful Life (World Music Awards 1996) HQ," Ulf Ekberg is seen using a Roland JD-800 Synthesizer. This video was uploaded by yalita76 and features Ace Of Base during the 1996 World Music Awards.

The two Macs are interfaced to the outside world with two Opcode Studio 3 units and a Studio 5. Hague has plenty of sound sources to drive with these. There's an M3R, a DX7II, two rack-mounted Roland Super Jupiter modules (with programmers), a Roland JD800, DS50 and U220, a Korg Wavestation A/D, and an Akai/Linn MPC60, plus a few oldies. Amongst the latter are a Korg MS12, his original Yamaha CS80, and an Oberheim OB8.

Kenji Kawai is confirmed to use a Roland JD-800, as stated on his official website under the "Profile" section.

The synth appears at 3:15. "It is from Jacob. We had times we used it a lot for some older projects, but last we only do it with the computer."

In the video in which Moonlight Matters is taking Future Music Magazine on a tour of his studio, at 1:00:15 he says "Here I have the Roland JD-800" standing on front of the synth.
