Critic Reviews

Roland Juno-D

soundonsound.com

The Roland Juno-D synthesizer presents a mixed bag for musicians. On the plus side, it's a budget-friendly, lightweight, and versatile option with a solid range of sounds, quality effects, and a powerful arpeggiator. Its simple interface makes it ideal for beginners or budget-conscious performers. However, the lack of aftertouch on the keyboard, reliance on an external power supply, and limited user performance slots are notable downsides. While it might not live up to the legacy of its Juno predecessors, the Juno-D remains a practical choice for those seeking an affordable, portable synth with essential features.

Too Much Work to Keep Up With

In good playing condition, it's great. However, Roland is the BMW of keyboards. Constant cleanings and button replacements and contact strip replacements to make it work. Unless you use it every day, it's not worth the upkeep. The sounds are good when functioning.

Solid synthesiser, interesting sounds

I've used this synth extensively for interesting sounds, and its editing possibilities are very extensive. Its D-beam is an interesting feature and have use it in lve use quite a bit, while linked to arpeggios and filter cutoff and resonance. The synth is surprisingly lightweight and very portable. I think it is a very good synth for a beginner, or those interested at getting into synthesis for the first time. I do also have the Juno-106 and I did have a Juno G, both are brilliant synths in there own rights, and ind of now wish I kept the G and got rid of the D, but I needed the money so the G had to go!
