Great for a project!
I have one of these that I've completely gutted and stripped down put hot rails in it and painted it blue. Love this guitar as it has a huge amount of personality to it. As for the stock package though I wouldn't really recommend leaving it as is, just because it has fairly thin sounding pickups and cheap parts as it is the most entry level guitar you can get. If you're looking for something to mess around with to learn how to mod guitars this is a great buy.

Got my 2002 20th anniversary squier bullet strat for £70 at a second hand. I had sold all my previous guitars, and my guitar clueless girlfriend convinced me to get it, because "she liked it" but fair enough i got it. And honestly its one of the best playing strats i have ever played, gorgeous neck, lovely action height, sounds beautiful. I love it and use it all the time to gig, record, practise. I know other people who have owned them and hated it. Maybe mine was just perfectly set up and well looked after, i would recommend it. But only if its a good one, They're out there!

Bright and "Trebling"
This guitar has a surprisingly wide range of own tones. Between the five selector positions, you can have a bright and aggressive sound with the bridge pick-up; a pure and simple medium sound between bridge and middle pick-ups; a well-niveled and good for effects average tone using the three pick-ups at the same time; a low and contained sound for nice bases on the neck-middle pick-ups and for last but definitively not least, a incredible string-treble sound. This last sound is very peculiar between the most commom guitar kinds nowadays; it has a lot of brilliance and can be really compared to a acoustic guitar when it comes to clean sounds. It has a lot of body in the sound you can fell the wood trembling. That trembling ends up on generating a resonant bass frequency along with the notes. In general, its a very cheap guitar with fantastic sounds. It's worthy trying it out.

Mine is is a blue green color, I've scalloped it and sanded the lacquer off the back of the neck.
It is main primary guitar for anything, especially for electric it's got that thin neck, but good feel I like I don't know what it is, but anytime someone plays one of my guitars especially the strat and my old Harley Benton which I unfortunately traded for an acoustic which I would then trade for my strat, everyone always said they were the two most comfortable guitars.

My very first guitar that I got from my parents on my 15th birthday, but it wasn't a "Bullet Strat" when we bought it, it was an "Affinity Series Fat Strat" but I guess Squier's done away with that name and rebranded it as the Bullet Strat. Anyway, pretty good guitar, it's served me well for a long time. Loaded it with stickers to emulate my hero Billie Joe Armstrong. Only two things I would change: 1. put a Duncan JB in the bridge, and 2. fix the intonation which has steadily gone south over these past nine years. Mainly use it as a secondary guitar for songs in half-step-down tuning.

You won't like the JB as much as you think you will.... its a great pickup if you have a big marshall amplifier and lots of 12 inchers blazing away, like the dimarzio superdistortion its a 1 trick pony that doesn't play well with smaller tube amps or solid state gear.

Great starter guitar!
This was my first electric guitar and this is what I originally used for playing gigs in my punk rock band. It has a maple neck, rosewood fingerboard and three single coil, strat pickups. It sounds exactly like a strat but it's not as expensive. It is honestly a great guitar to start with and it can be great for even professionals to use. I still use it as a secondary guitar, for gigs I use it if I'm playing drop D type songs.
If you want a strat sounding guitar without spending loads of money, I recommend you buy this. It's not very professional sounding but it still sounds amazing for the punk rock/pop punk tone, you could make it sound perfect if you get whatever amp, strings suit you.
