Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about T-Rex Engineering FuelTank Classic Power Supply.

Features and functionality

  • The T-Rex FuelTank Classic is noted for not being isolated, unlike the Junior and Chameleon models, which are isolated for better noise reduction.

    Source
  • The Cioks DC-7 can power additional power supply units using a 24v cable, offering expandability for larger setups.

    Source
  • Some power supplies offer a "power sag" function to emulate the voltage drops of a dying battery, adding tonal variation for certain pedal types.

    Source
  • Users note that some power supplies can have a fuse that cuts power to all outputs if a malfunction occurs, providing an additional safety feature.

    Source

User experience

  • One user highlighted that the T-Rex FuelTank Junior is sturdy, reliable, and affordable, but recommended the Classic model for larger setups.

    Source
  • Owners emphasize the importance of checking pedal current draw, especially for modulation and delay pedals, which typically require more power than boost/drive pedals.

    Source
  • Multiple owners report successfully using daisy chains with 4-6 analog pedals without issues, suggesting that isolated power isn't always necessary for small, all-analog setups.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Cioks DC-7 and Voodoo Labs PP2+ are frequently mentioned as alternatives, with the DC-7 praised for fitting neatly under boards and offering versatile power options.

    Source
  • The Cioks SOL offers five outlets with variable voltages (9/12/15/18V) and higher mA outputs compared to the Voodoo Labs ISO-5, allowing more flexibility in pedal power requirements.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The OneSpot Pro CS-7 is noted for being a solid choice at $120, with potential savings when bought used, offering good power capacity for pedalboards.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Isolated power supplies are particularly recommended for players with unreliable home electricity to minimize noise and potential pedal damage.

Run out of fuel

Power supply to me is becoming a challenging choice to make. In the meanwhile i bought this Fuel Tank Classic. Ten outputs..that's a lot you can power up a lot of pedals but at a certain point you will run out of mA. Why? because the outputs are not isolated and they share the mA on the first eight and then on the last two (12v) . After half hour it will start to make noise . But the price..is great for what you get,the sizes are pedalboard friendly and the construction material are good.

joris_van_dorpe

too little amount of power for the amount of sockets it sports.

only 500 mah for the 9 volt pedals combined.... that's ridiculous. that's basically one fuzz, one reverb and one digital delay lol... The build quality is very sturdy, that's about the only positive thing I have to say about this power supply.

Avoid

Its not isolated. i had terrible trouble with this on fuzz pedals. Got a Fuel tank JR, much better.
