Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Beats By Dr. Dre Pro Headphones Black.

User experience

  • Some users report discomfort due to the headphones being more "on-ear" than "over-ear," especially for those with larger ears.

    Source
  • Users find the clamping pressure of the headband too tight, causing discomfort after short periods, particularly for those with larger heads.

    Source
  • Pleather pads and headband are stiff, causing discomfort after prolonged use, with a clamping force that's strong yet doesn't keep headphones secure during movement.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The headphones support USB-C audio, which is a significant upgrade for those looking for better connectivity options.

    Source
  • The Beats Studio Pro offers dynamic head-tracking spatial audio, enhancing the immersive listening experience.

    Source
  • Built-in equalizer settings can only be changed when connected through USB-C, with three preset options: music, entertainment, and phone calls.

    Source
  • The thick cable is perceived as overkill given the thin internal wiring, but the L-jack coil length is a key detail to verify authenticity.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • The Beats Studio Pro is favored for workouts due to its secure fit, even while playing sports like basketball.

    Source
  • Genres like 60s releases, LoFi Rock, West Coast Rap, and Progressive Rock sound better, while current pop and Southern Rap are less favorable.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Multiple reviews suggest the Beats Studio Pro has a more neutral sound profile compared to the bass-heavy Beats Studio 1 and 2.

    Source
  • In terms of noise cancellation, Beats Studio Pro is reported to be slightly better than AirPods Pro 2 but not as effective as AirPods Max.

    Source
  • The Beats Studio Pro has lower bass output compared to previous models like the Studio 3, which many users preferred for its stronger bass.

    Source
  • HD-25s are preferred over Beats Pro for DJing due to better durability and comfort.

    Source

Build quality

  • After a few months of use, some owners report the earphone cases splitting apart, which is not covered under warranty and requires an expensive repair.

    Source
  • Aluminum is used extensively, but no real leather is present, and pleather heats up noticeably during workouts.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The headphones are considered a good buy when heavily discounted ($150-$175), but not at their full retail price due to better competitors in the same range.

    Source
  • Considered a reasonable choice if found for around $100, but not at the full MSRP.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • The Studio Pros lack an app or EQ for wireless mode, limiting audio customization unless used with an external equalizer app.

Monster Beats Pro - A Full Review | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org

head-fi.org

Beats By Dr. Dre Pro Headphones are a polarizing choice, boasting a robust build and stylish design that appeals to the brand-conscious consumer. However, their heavy weight and strong clamping force compromise comfort, with subpar sound isolation. While offering a bass-heavy sound signature that is enjoyable for casual listening, the overall audio quality doesn't justify the hefty price tag, especially when superior alternatives exist for less. They're not inherently bad, but audiophiles may find them lacking. For those prioritizing style and brand over performance, they might be worth considering, albeit at a more reasonable price.

Monster Beats by Dr. Dre Pro | Stereophile.com

The Beats By Dr. Dre Pro headphones impress with their robust build and DJ-friendly features like rotating earcups and efficient loud performance. However, they fall short for audiophiles and professionals with uncomfortable clamping pressure and a hefty weight that makes long sessions unbearable. Sound-wise, they lack sparkle and detail, delivering a mediocre audio experience with wooly bass. Priced steeply at $449.95, they're deemed overpriced and underperforming for serious listeners, though DJs might find them useful in loud environments. Overall, these headphones are not recommended for those seeking high-fidelity or prolonged comfort.

Beats Pro review: Discontinued DJ headphones - SoundGuys

soundguys.com

The Beats Pro headphones boast admirable build quality with rotating earcups and solid isolation, catering primarily to DJs. However, their hefty price tag and heavy weight make them uncomfortable for everyday use. The bass-heavy sound profile drowns out mids and highs, unsuitable for casual listeners or audio editors. Despite their durability, the clamping force and inadequate padding compromise comfort. With the Beats Pro discontinued, there are better alternatives like the Sony MDR-7506 for professional audio work or the V-Moda Crossfade Wireless II for portability. Save your money and avoid these overpriced, discontinued relics.

High Quality

The over-ear feature helps greatly in tuning out the world around you, and it helps you to focus solely on the music you crave. The structure and composition of the headphones can survive the hard life of an amateur or professional producer. The case that it comes in the box could've been sturdier, but the other items that accompany the headphones in the box are very well constructed. Overall, the headphones are a must have for all music lovers, whether they are producers, DJs, or just people who enjoy listening to music.

Great for live!

These are NOT the best headphones for mixing - but when it comes to having a solid pair of cans that boost the base on all play backs - its fun to let your friends hear your mixes with these bad boys. Fun also because they fit so well on your head and wont slide off if you get a little crazy here and there.

Cheers,
