    Source
  • The DL-8's reverse mode is 100% wet and lacks selectable tap divisions, limiting its versatility for some users.

    Source
  • The pedal's cover can be removed by pushing a button with a guitar jack, eliminating the need for tools like screwdrivers.

    Source
  • The internal dip switch allows users to switch between true bypass and buffered mode, enabling delay trails to persist after the pedal is turned off.

    Source

Use cases and applications

Its true bypass feature ensures no tone loss, while the solid build and unique add-ons like the “Stomplock™” make it tour-ready. solid delay and basic looper

Used this as my primary looper for quite some time. Solid, basic function, good value. Build like an optimistic tank: I'm going on six years of it being thrown in and out of car trunks and gig bags; cosmetically worn but still runs like a kitten's whiskers. Lots of great delay settings, I love the analog and reverse delays, and you can get great sci-fi sound effects by changing the timing settings while the delay is going.

Really good value

One of the most infravalored delays out there. Solid as rock, nice sounding and excelent price. I have three years with it and it has no signs of time on its body. Love the lo-fi setting. My only complain about this pedal is the tap tempo mode, and there's no jack for external tap tempo like the Boss Digital Delays.

Then there’s a DigiTech Hardwire DL-8 to create loops. And to avoid sounding too clean or contemporary, as I tend to prefer sounding a bit trashier and straight-in, I stick an additional overdrive, the Tetra-Fet, at the end of the chain…

"I have to have a delay. You always need a delay, and this one [DL-8] basically has everything you need in one. Anything from just regular digital delay. To reverse, analog, slap-back. It’s got tape, you can even do loops. So it covers all my needs as a delay pedal. It’s wonderful."

In the video Palace's Leo Wyndham - GEAR MASTERS Ep. 460, Leo Wyndham takes us through his pedalboard. At 6:11, he talks about his DigiTech DL8 delay pedal:

This is very special - the DL8 DigiTech. I don’t use this for one song, but it’s very important for a song called Heaven Up There. The beginning has a reverse delay effect, and no other reverse delay, even this thing [gestures to Strymon TimeLine pedal], makes as good a sound as this. Weirdly, it’s just perfect sound - ice cold.

We had one of these on tour once, and we played in Paris. The band before us - a girl threw up all over my pedalboard while she was singing and broke this. True story. The next day, we were playing our big London show, and you can't find these anywhere. I had to buy one from a guitarist from Razorlight, who was the only person who had one. This one hasn’t been puked on yet!
