Electro-Harmonix Soul Food "Meat & 3" Mod review on pedal-of-the-day.com

pedal-of-the-day.com

The Electro-Harmonix Soul Food Overdrive with JHS Pedals' "Meat & 3" Mod is a versatile and affordable take on the legendary Klon sound. It boasts a transparent overdrive that can range from sweet to aggressive. The JHS mod enhances its versatility with a 3-position toggle for different clipping styles and a 'Meat' knob for bass control. Priced at just $62, with an additional $45 for the mod, it's a budget-friendly alternative to pricier options. While it might not replace a $1500 Klon, it offers impressive tone-shaping capabilities for its cost, making it a worthy addition to any guitarist's pedalboard.

Klon Centaur exact copy

This pedal must be the best Klon Centaur copy ever made by any company. It is the EHX soul food modded by JHS pedals and they did a killer job. There's 3 different voices (one of them original soul food and one of them sounds exactly like the original Klon) and an extra bass contour knob. Best transparant drive pedal i've ever played.

The best 'always on' overdrive for the price

There's not much to say about this overdrive because it's so great. It's almost a perfect harmonic saturator, and the building block for great driven tones. I run a JC120 amp, and this pedals gives it the meat it needs. No matter what settings you run on it, it always spits out a perfect medium-rare steak.

An absolute MUST have.

The best warm you can afford

The EHX Soul Food is a new classic, but with this JHS mod this beauty goes still way better.

jimmarchi1

how would YOU describe the differences between the additional modes?

R

After the mod the sound gets fatter.

jimmarchi1

hmmmm, like more bass or thicker mids?
