Electro-Harmonix EHX Tortion review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Electro-Harmonix EHX Tortion is a versatile overdrive pedal that excels at delivering natural, vintage-style tones. Its JFET-based design offers a dynamic response, making it perfect for those seeking a cranked-amp sound without excessive distortion. The pedal's flexible controls and solid build are standout features, allowing users to achieve a range of tones from subtle break-up to punchy dirt with ease. However, it's not ideal for high-gain or heavier styles, as the treble can get harsh at higher gain settings. Overall, it's a fantastic choice for low-to-mid gain applications and vintage dirt enthusiasts.

Electro-Harmonix EHX Tortion Review : Tubey or not Tubey, that is the question. - Audiofanzine

audiofanzine.com

The Electro-Harmonix EHX Tortion pedal is a versatile gem, offering a wide range of overdrive and distortion with a warm tube-like tone. Its dual modes—Normal and Boost—provide flexibility for both rhythm and lead sounds, making it ideal for live performances. The added XLR output with amp simulation is a handy feature for studio recording, although the cabinet simulation is more convincing for cleaner tones than distorted ones. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those seeking a rich, dynamic sound in their setups.

The most useful OD ever

I run this thing into a mixer from the direct out mainly for electric guitar, but it's great for acoustics as well. The direct out is not the best cab simulator you can find, obviously, but it does a fantastic job of giving warmth and amp-like qualities to a setup that's essentially a pedal into a mixer. The EQ is powerful if you want it to be. The clipping is as fat or tight as you want it to be. Just a lot a customizable options. And the boost is a good feature too. Only drawback is hiss when you dime everything and boost it, but what drive pedal doesn't have that? For the price, you can't find a more useful tool.
