Description
Meet the Jackson Audio Asabi Mateus Asato Signature Overdrive/Distortion Pedal, the product of a painstaking two-year development process. This pedal is designed to deliver the iconic sound of Mateus Asato, a modern guitar hero known for his virtuosic and jazz-inflected excursions.
As a complete 'Marshall-in-a-box' pedal, the Asabi is a dual distortion and overdrive pedal, carefully engineered to recreate the soulful overdriven tones and liquid high gain tones that make Mateus Asato's sound so distinctive. The distortion channel is built around a Modern High-gain circuit, paying homage to the legendary JCM800 amplifier. This channel delivers harmonic complexity and detail reminiscent of a classic British-style high-gain amp.
The overdrive channel, on the other hand, provides the smooth overdrive and touch sensitivity of a vintage Marshall Plexi. With its four selectable clipping diode presets, ranging from a classic screamer to a vintage British-style amp overdrive, it offers a broad palette of tones to cater to various playing styles.
One standout feature of the Asabi is the Innovative Gain Cycle mode, which splits the maximum gain into four equal parts, allowing you to ramp up your crunch tones to fit the shifting dynamics of a performance.
On top of that, you can further customize the Asabi's sound with its replaceable analog plug-ins. This offers the potential for endless tonal exploration and customization without the need to purchase a new pedal.

Mushy
Really struggled to get useful tones from this. It never felt particularly clear or articulate. Wasn't a fan of the build either.
