Description

The Lawson L47 Mk1

  • The L47 Mk1 is Gene Lawson’s of (Lawson Microphones) take on a Telefunken/Neumann U47.

The Lawson L47MP Mk1(multi pattern) and L47C Mk1 (Cardioid) were the two different offerings from Gene for the L47 Mk1.

The microphone employed Gene’s take on the vintage M7 Capsule that were found in many Telefunken/Neumann U47’s, and all M49 Microphones. The capsules are a solid Brass design, machines in Nashville at Gene’s shop, gold sputtered, and hand lapped to a mirror finish. The Capsules are also critically tensioned in the Lawson lab with dual 3-micron gold-sputtered diaphragms to improve and extend high frequency response.

The L47 MK1’s employed NOS Military 6072 Tubes, Jensen Transformers, and high grade components.

The Mic’s high end power supplies featured a fully switchable, and variable (Car/Omni/8) Polar Pattern selector, and a pad for the L47MP Mk1, while the L47C MK1(Cardioid only) features the same high quality power supply, but with no Pad.

The L47 also features a built in shock mount, so the mic can be used without the need for an external shock mount.

The Lawson L47 Mk1 was discontinued, and replaced by the L47 MK2
