Rage 158 Review | Peavey | Guitar Amplifiers | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Peavey Rage 158 is a versatile, budget-friendly starter amp ideal for practice, offering reliable performance and a decent sound for blues and rock enthusiasts. Its clean and lead channels, paired with commendable volume, make it a solid choice for beginners. However, it struggles with heavier genres like metal without external pedals, and its built-in distortion may not satisfy all users. While it shines in smaller venues, its limitations become apparent for larger gigs or advanced players seeking richer tones. Ultimately, the Rage 158 is a practical, affordable choice with some trade-offs in sound versatility.

is good but could be better?

Idk, I have bought this amp because in my apartment the peavey studio express 212 is too loud volume for me, but this amp is good because it is a great 15w amp and is very good mid and high sounds.

But the low setting sound is quite weird.

Decent amp

2 channels, clean and lead. Lead has pre and post gain knobs. Equalization has 2 channels vintage and modern. It also has low, mid, and high knobs. This amp can get pretty loud too. Punk rock and blues sound really good on this amp, in my opinion. Unfortunately, the sound isn't fantastic but it makes for a nice practice amp.

sweet little amp

I used this and a Fender Mustang I v at the same time with an ABY switch and they sounded amazing. the Peavy sounds dope on its own but i prefer it with both going.
