Great valve tone, for amazing price...

This was my first valve amp, and I really loved it. Started my pedalboard quest with it also. It's a great amp, 100% valve tone, 12 inch speaker. Super versatile, clear and warm clean channel, and the lead is maybe even more versatile, from a little hazeyness, to tight crunch, to devilish lead overdrive. I enjoyed cranking it and going down on my guitar volume knob. I only cranked it once with max volume guitar and it looses a lot of clarity and becomes very compressed sounding with very little dynamics. But for bedroom levels and small gigs sounds very good. Very characteristic spring reverb, a bit splashy at higher values (you have to tame it), but great for spacey stuff. I play it with an 8 string, sometimes tuning my 8th string to E (an octave bellow standard low E string ong 6 string), and it didn't have to mud, it's quite a tight sounding amp.... Even huge chords retain string clarity and definition.

Wish I hadn't Sold It

I picked up one of these babies for $50 in like 2012 or so. I ended up having to sell it, but I've been kicking myself since I did so. The lead channel is full and ballsy, while the clean channel sparkles. If it weren't so heavy (like all Peavey amps tend to be) I'd give it 5 stars.

Sounds great

The clean channel sounds incredible, but the gain channel sounds like a piss jar filled with bees, the amp does take pedals very well though

Good Tones If You Know What To Do.

This amp is pretty incompetent stock. You'll need to at least use the dummy-jack trick (1/8 female to 1/4 male in 1st input) to take out some of the inherent muddiness. You'll also want to replace the stock speaker. But once you do, you'll have a very good sounding amp.

Great amp

A great all tube amp. 2 channels and spring reverb. It can go from a overdrive to a heavy tone. It really worth the price.

Peav.....??? I know, but set it on gain 5, volume 6 with gain boost on and there it is. And also, so versatile.
