    Source

User experience

  • Some users report a noticeable "fizzing" noise on clean channels, particularly when notes decay, potentially influenced by certain pickups.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • The fizzing noise issue is reduced with the "Sponge" control set to minimum, suggesting a tweakable noise characteristic.

    Source

  • Users recommend upgrading the stock speakers, referencing a video by Ola Englund that demonstrates improved sound quality.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Running a distortion pedal like the Boss Metal Core through the clean channel is suggested, but experimenting with other amp models is encouraged for diverse tones.

suprising solid state amp

I picked one of these up while on tour this summer in a junk shop for very cheap as it was cosmetically very beat up, but internally the amp was fine. I was amazed at the tone, considering the reputation they seem to get online. I now use it as a backup to my deluxe reverb even though I own a blues jr, this peavey amp is amazing for a solid state modeling amp, and especially for the price. While it doesn't have that sparkle given only by tube amps, this thing is certainly loud enough for my needs, and sounds great if raised off the ground and tweaked with. definitely a hidden gem among the solid states out there.
