Description

Step back into the golden era of rock with the Vox AC30 Dallas Arbiter 70's. A nostalgic nod to the past, this vintage combo amplifier merges legendary sound with refined engineering. Crafted between 1974 and 1977, these amps mark a pivotal moment in Vox's history, where hand-wired precision met modern efficiency. While the traditional GZ-34 rectifier tube gave way to a diode bridge, the result is a more robust output capable of delivering over 40 watts, ensuring your sound cuts through any mix without sacrificing clarity.

The first releases of these "Dallas Voxes" boasted the coveted Alnico Blue speakers, renowned for their rich, harmonic overtones. Later models featured Celestion Greenbacks, preserving the amplifier's iconic warmth while enhancing durability and power handling. From 1976 to 1977, an edition with an Accutronics reverb tank was available, adding lush, spacious reverb to your sonic palette.

Whether you're chasing classic British tones or seeking a reliable workhorse for your gigs, the Vox AC30 Dallas Arbiter is a testament to timeless craftsmanship and audio excellence. Experience the amplifier that has shaped genres and inspired legends.

my least favorite ac30 version, but that doesn't mean its bad

I had a late arbiter for some time. The PCB version. They went from handwiring to PCB around the time they ran out of alnico speakers (which were discontinued but when they bought Vox from Vsel, Arbiter got a stock of NOS silver alnicos and most of the handwired arbiters have those as far as I know). Ariter, even before going PCB, went with a solidstate rectifier over the GZ34 giving this amps a pinch more headroom and punch than a JMI ac30. Coupled with blue vox labeled 70s kurt mueller coned G12Ms it was the marshalliest vox ac30 I've ever heard. A very good amp but I was frightened by the PCB in the classic, poorly ventilated ac30 cab and it was just enough louder than any other vox, even with the lower efficiency speakers that I could never let her rip fully, and the medium ceramic magnets just don't produce the rich cleans of the alnico speakers. Perhaps the full compliment of mustard caps added to its unique voice versus my wima equipped 62.... if you believe in capacitor mojo.
