great look, reasonable sounds

I've always liked the VOX grill cloth look.

It’s a 20 watt modelling amplifier which is a great starting point for almost anyone outside of someone wanting to play metal or really heavy rock or if you need a good practice amplifier for the time without the band. The other usual suspects now would be the BOSS Katana, the Fender Mustang and the Peavey Vyper.

After getting back into guitar, I wanted an actual amplifier to plug into. This worked perfectly. It can be option paralysis a bit and the Tone Room can certainly waste some time, but once you get past the presets you will probably find a few models that work for you and then you’ve got some limited effects to keep you inspired. Lots of user preset slots for your own fiddling and for the first couple of months it did that kind of thing for me: presets. Then I started using the pedals I had again and found that setting it to the Tweed model and turning the master volume up all the way and the volume to suit and using the gain control as the volume control it actually works pretty well with pedals as just an amplifier with the usual 3-band EQ and gain control. It is no tube amplifier, but then it’s got a headphone jack that works pretty well and can allow me to play at volumes suitable for the family.

Sound Monster

I bought It about a year ago. In Short: It's great for everything between crystal clean and Iron Maiden Distortion. Everything above that (Mesa Bogie Dual Rectifier etc) is too much for this little amp. There are presets for that, but they aren't that good sounding. But with Amp Models like the Soldano SLO-100 (SL-OD) or the Marshall JCM 800 (Brit 800) there is more than enough Distortion for every Musical Genre with a melody you can hear (Unlike some Metal Subgenres). But it also does old "Vintage" sounds very good. It can sound like an old Marshall Plexi, a clean Fender Blackface, a creamy overdriven Fender Tweed or (suprisingly) like a classic Vox AC30.

You should always use the Tone Room Software on your computer (free download at the Vox Official Website) if your searching for a new sound. There are all the sounds i ever wanted.

And trust me: 20 Watts are loud enough. I've played with this amp in a Hall with about 900 People, my amp was at about 4 of 10, and the sound engineer said "You are too loud". But you can clearly use this for Home practising without losing tone. I always have the volume on full up to drive the Pre amp tube, and the master at about 9 o'clock. It's just great!!!

100% worth it

this isn't just a crappy solid state practice amp. The modelling features in combination with the real preamp tube make this a very versatile and usable amp. The custom programming features work really well and even with it's small 8 inch speaker, this thing can push some air. would definitely recommend this amp to the budget conscious player, or anyone for that matter. If you have the money and want something that's louder, the VT40x and VT100x are basically the same fundamental amp with larger speakers and higher wattage (40w and 100w respectively)

Great amp for home practice

I picked one up because I needed something for home that wasn't too loud and it is perfect (and it can still get very loud). Great modelings and the effects sound good on each. I would suggest getting the footswitch to make it easier to switch between different sounds. The ability to adjust the power is fantastic. The software to change the user models is ok and could use a bit of UI work, but it gets the job done. If you're a fan of the VOX sound and need something to play at home this is a wonderful choice especially since it won't break the bank.

It's a perfect combination beteween digital and analog audio. It works with tubes, but also has a combination of three tipes of effectos, and every effect has five different modes, that means you have fifteen options to equalize your guitar. It's perfect.

Best amp I have Ever Played

It has multiple effects and amp presets, best sound quality ever. It is Without a doubt the greatest amp I have used.

It is really good amp with so many different modellings. Also the effects are good quality and the single tube gives it really nice sound.
