VOX Valvetronix VT20+ Guitar Amp Combo Review

audio-times.com

The Vox Valvetronix VT20+ impresses with its wide array of tones and 33 amp models, making it a versatile choice for home recording at a great price. The amp's clever design allows for consistent sound across volume levels, a boon for home studio use. However, the complexity of controls and the limited eight user memories can be frustrating. Despite minor issues with dynamic sensitivity and noise reduction settings, the VT20+ stands as a fun, capable amp, especially if you're willing to spend time mastering its features.

Brilliant amp, with proper valves tones

Brilliant amp, with proper valves tones. Models all my favourite Marshall and Vox amps...

ravensgate5

I LOVE THESE AMPS!

These VT series amps are just brilliant. I've tried and tested all similar modelling amps before buying this and this beat the Fender Mustang, just, those are brilliant to. Great range of sounds, great looks (I have the classic version) and like all these small modeling amps, great value for money. I've not tried the next generation of these, but can't wait to, because they're bound to be better. Nice and loud to, easily do small gigs with this baby. Build quality is very good and had no technical issues so far. Maybe I'm bias as I love VOX amps in general, but this is really a superb little amp. If you're in the market for a small modeling amp, definitely check these (and the Fender) out before the rest.

Decent Digital amp

The tube doesn't do much for the sound, but it sounds good anyways. Its a good amp for playing at night with headphones when you don't want to murder your neighbors. I personally like the red channel on the Bogner simulation channel, running a tubescreamer simulator as a boost. Also, in order to get the most out of the tube, turn the power level to noon and then adjust the master volume from there.

Great, mobile, versatile amp

A great modelling amp with 33 amp and sound combos in addition to your own set-ups. Effects are good, though they do not offer the range of settings as most pedals. For me there are too many distorted options, which must have ruled out some more useful cleaner sounds. Light and great for jamming, gigging, practice, and you can play all hours with headphones if noise is a problem.

Awesome modelling amp for practice and fooling around!

Great amp. While not super loud and powerful the modelling and effects on it are great. If you are just starting or haven't made up your mind on what style to play this amp will do just about anything. Its great for practice but it will do the job for a small cafe gig. Vox is a great brand in general and have not failed me with this one. Also it's really light. Perfect for traveling musicians. For the price easily one of the best amps out there.

Awesome practice amp

I use this amp for late night playing in my house. It sounds pretty good and is perfect for practicing in small apartments without bother neighbors. At first I was considering a POD but glad I went this route. Great value for the money.

Picked one up on sale.....

When I found this one sale for under $200 it captured my attention. I knew going in it was a hybrid amp with a tubed preamp, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Let me tell you this thing was everything I wanted and more. Tons of different amp models, fantastic tone, and overall very versatile. Frankly it's a steal for under $200. Prior to this I was using a Fender Mustang amp and this thing blows it away in EVERY possible way.

dj_riptide

Good combo for beginners

This amp has tons of features, effects, and settings which are very fun to experiment with, the 2x12 setting is my favorite. My biggest issue with this amp is how much feedback it produces.

colby

Good modelling amp

It sounds clear when distortion is on, and has a good clean channel for my ears

patrick_gaffney

It works for what it is!

For a 1x8 modeling amp under $200, it gets the job done. My favorite am models are Clean Red, UK Metal Orange and US Metal Green.
