Description
Step into a world of pure and vibrant sound with the Vox Hand-Wired AC15HW1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp. This combo amp embodies the rich history of VOX with its hand-wired turret board construction, a meticulous process that delivers a beautiful and efficient signal path with minimal loss. The result? Unwavering sound fidelity that is as powerful as it is refined.
The AC15HW1X is a true all-tube amplifier, featuring ECC83/12AX7 preamp tubes, EL84 power stage tubes, and an EZ81 rectifier tube. This genuine tube design ensures that the heart and soul of your guitar's sound is passed through with perfect transparency. Experience the organic, unmistakable tone that has made VOX a household name among guitarists.
The Vox Hand-Wired AC15HW1X also stands out with its two-channel design, offering a Top Boost channel and a Normal channel. The Top Boost channel delivers the legendary AC30 sound with a fully interactive tone stack, while the Normal channel offers a cleaner, more natural tube sound. A unique Hot/Cool switch allows you to switch between an orthodox Top Boost sound and a bypassed tone circuitry for richer gain.
This amp is not just about honoring tradition, but also about meeting the demands of today's musicians. It's equipped with a Master Volume and an Output Power mode switch for more detailed control over your sound. With retro-style fawn-colored vinyl suggestive of a 1960s-era AC30, this amp is a classic reborn for the modern music scene.

It's over
Found the best amp for me. That Celestion Blue is out of this world, and the 7W/15W switch is a godsend. Gorgeous tones - the chime, the grind, it's all there. It's heavy, though - it'll be a workout, but it's worth it. :)

" It was sent through a [Electro–Harmonix] Memory Man pedal, with the gain turned up loudly, a ProCo Rat guitar pedal for that distorted guitar sound, and one of these new hand-wired Vox AC15 amps, and then a Knas Ekdahl Moisturizer spring reverb. This was the guitar chain and it gave a really interesting tone that suited Andrew’s music." - Rob Kirwan about "Take Me To Church" recording process.
Robbie Robertson uses the Vox Hand-Wired AC15HW1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp, as noted in his gear list on Robbie-Robertson.com.
In this photo, Josh can be seen using the hand-wired Vox AC-15. He used it throughout the years since The Strypes' Little Victories album.
"[Showing amp] This is the AC-15 Hand-Wired, and I don't know why every amp doesn't have tone cut. I'm cutting a lot." Pearce explains that having a lot of distortion pedals on his board means that his amp signal can get "super bright" without this feature. He uses the amp for his "main sound and delay effects" while the Fender Deluxe is more for "extreme" sounds and stereo effects.
Jimmy Vivino talks about the two amps he has on stage with him when he plays on set with Conan's Basic Cable band. He uses them in parallel, at the same time. One of them is his Vox Hand-Wired AC15HW1X 15W 1x12 Tube Guitar Combo Amp. It can be distinguished as the Hand-Wired AC15HW1X version due to the fawn colored vinyl. Starting at 5:31:
“…Two amps. Both on, both in - not switching, just both on. A Vox-AC15, new, brand new, Vietnamese made. Who would have known, in 1968, that we’d be having Vietnamese amps [laughs]. But this is a great amp. 15 watt amp.”
