    Source
  • Downsizing to an 8" speaker, such as the Celestion Super 8, is recommended for better home use, enhancing the mids and high-end qualities of Vox amps.

    Source

User experience

  • For apartment use, overdrive pedals are recommended to simulate tube distortion at lower volumes, as natural amp distortion may be too loud.

Vox AC30HW2X & AC15HW1 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

The Vox Hand-Wired AC15HW1 is a tonal masterpiece with its stunning retro aesthetics and impeccable build quality. Musicians rave about its rich sound, offering both 'hot' and 'cool' modes for versatile overdrive options. While it lacks reverb and tremolo, its tone is unparalleled for those who prioritize classic Vox sound. The half-power switch and high-quality components further enhance its usability. However, some may find the absence of an EF86-powered channel and noticeable background hum a drawback. Overall, it's a significant sonic upgrade for those seeking authentic Vox tones.

Brilliant Tone and a great platform for pedals

This amplifier is a beauty to play and is aesthetically fantastic! It's a weighty amp with 4 channel inputs and a new hot/cold feature on the top boost channel. It's most stunning factor is its blazing creamy drive tones on both the top boost channel and the normal. All pedals sound brilliant with it, although it does not have an effects loop. This does not matter much for me as I like to use a transparent overdrive for rhythm tones and a tube screamer for some extra umph when I need.

alexander_svensen

Very good amp with "classic" feel.

Really simple to use. Nice features on the different channels, and it makes it versatile even though it is simple. It also works great with my pedals.

"Jerry told VOX that the AC30 has always been his first choice in guitar amplifiers. Over the years Jerry’s involvement with several signature guitar projects meant that he wasn’t always able use his chosen amp but now he does have the freedom to choose, he went straight for Vox, choosing the AC15 Hand-Wired."
