Walrus Audio Eras Five-State Distortion Pedal Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Walrus Audio Eras Five-State Distortion delivers impressive tonal versatility, thanks to its five-mode knob that expertly blends LED and silicon clipping for a range of sounds—from tight chugging to smooth saturation. Equipped with a useful blend knob, it allows players to fine-tune their tone, adding clarity even in high-gain settings. The Big Review: Walrus Audio’s Eras offers an arsenal of aggressive distortion tones

guitar.com

The Walrus Audio Eras Five-State Distortion brings a dynamic array of aggressive tones, making it a versatile addition to any pedalboard. Its five modes allow players to explore various distortion flavors, from tight LED clipping to scooped rhythms, catering to different playing styles. The blend control is a standout feature, restoring some clean tone, though dialing it back too much can lead to a muddled sound. While subtle differences in the first three modes may leave some seeking more dramatic shifts, the pedal shines when paired with a robust amp. Overall, it’s a solid choice for those wanting to unleash their inner rock beast, but it may not satisfy players looking for extreme tonal diversity.

Very solid and versatile pedal

Nice little distortion box! Walrus is awesome, you can pretty much buy from them blindly and know you’ll get something that sounds great. I bought this after seeing a band use it for a song on Sweetwater’s website. Hearing pedals in a band setting is so much more useful than hearing a lone guitarist take a pedal and play tired blues licks, no matter what the effect they’re using. Play to its strengths! I love that walrus tends to let us hear things in full context! This pedal has 5 modes and a lot of tone shaping and blending possibilities. You’re bound to find something you like. Love those soft clock switches they use too!

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Blend 1/2 up gives a great mix combined with a lighter overdrive!
