Great hardware, even after all this time.
Now this is an old (as in outdated) piece of equipment and I don't know why anyone would be in the market for one, but it has mostly worked fine for my small home setup for the past 9 years or so. It was great value for the price and the preamps are as good, clean and transparent as the day I bought it. Today there would be no sense in getting a FireWire interface, but back in ~2010 it was the bee's knees compared to USB.
I'm a Windows user and M-Audio hasn't updated their drivers since 2013. This is somewhat annoying as there is a nasty, although rare, bluescreen bug (IRQ level violation in ring0) that sometimes rears its head when changing the ASIO sample rate. Thankfully it used to happen much more often with Windows 7, but rarely if ever occurs with the current Windows 10. To reiterate, it is still a bug in M-Audio's code, not Microsoft's.
Great build quality. When looking at new interfaces I'm often put off by the visibly shoddy plastic construction and shitty knobs. This thing is made of metal throughout and the knobs and buttons might just survive a missile strike. M-Audio doesn't give a shit about supporting their legacy products though, and FireWire is all but dead, so meh.

How does the new rig look like now and what do you like the most about it?
The new rig consists of 7 Mac Mini mid-2011 servers, each connected to an M-Audio ProFire 610 interface for MIDI and audio. Each player in the Ensemble has his own dedicated computer. I chose this Mini model because it has a quad-core processor and dual 500GB internal hard drives. I’m not using any server functions on it. The second internal drive is a clone of the first, maintained by Carbon Copy Cloner; whenever the machine boots up, the clone is updated and older files archived. All computers are run headless via Ethernet from a MacBook . All machines have identical software loads, except for their manual IP addresses and desktop pictures which have the computer name embedded in them so I can tell which one I’m looking at. I have written a number of custom Applescript applications as front ends for rsync to manage synchronization between machines, a subject worthy of a separate discussion, so I won’t go into that now
